ECOCONSTRUCTION – Mr. Rob Croxford, Mr. Greg Walker –

Ecoconstruction aims to provide quality, eco conscious building alternatives that not only serve as a platform for the building of affordable, community orientated houses and schools , but also ensures that through the identification and implementation of considered, integrated technologies, they will be able to drastically reduce our environmental footprint through effective management of natural resources. The construction technique can be learnt easily within a few days by people without experience in the building trade. The relatively small sandbags weight between 7 - 10 kg andthe EcoBeams are very light in weight and can be handled easily by one person in all phases of the construction. For construction sites in rural areas, it is good to know that construction of EcoBag houses can take place even at locations without road access. This reduces the damage and congestion caused by heavy trucks which carry bricks and cement. 10 000 bags fit into the boot of a small car and weigh only a few kilograms. This is the equivalent of 20 000 bricks over the same area in a cavity wall.
