Job Purpose:
To support the Lead for Staff Development in the provision of staff training for Faculty and NHS teachers of undergraduate medical students
To help meet external requirements for education and staff development, particularly in response to the increasing GMC requirements for the training of medical teachers
To help meet the need for staff development in support of the design, introduction and sustainability of the new BM clinical modules in Years 3 to 5
To increase capacity in response to the current over-subscription of most of our staff development activities
Key Accountabilities/Primary Responsibilities:
- To make a leading contribution to staff development for taught programmes across the Faculty. This will include running interactive workshops and seminars,particularly for clinicians
- To help embed new structures, policies, teaching methods and content which will enhance the student learning experience on the BM programmes
- To provide expert advice to staff and students on learning and teaching issues relevant to the clinical context
- Working closely with clinical staff, to design and deliver embedded staff development for the new BM modules in years 1 to 5
- To design and facilitate additional staff development courses and work with the current staff development team to increase capacity in response to GMC and other growing demands for medical teacher development
- To contribute to student teaching as appropriate and to act as an academic tutor to medical students
- To contribute to the development of eLearning modules for staff development
- To undertake scholarly and/or research activities relevant to the post

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience: / Good first degree (or equivalent qualification)
PhD/postgraduate qualification or equivalent professional qualifications and experience
Evidence of planning and delivering successful and relevant staff development in medical education
Significant experience and excellence in learning and teaching in a clinical context
Significant experience and excellence in working with clinical teachers of medical undergraduates
Track record of development and delivery of teaching / Experience of working with health professionals
Experience of writing online learning materials
Teaching qualification (PCAP or equivalent)
Involvement in national events
Membership of Higher Education Academy
Growing and consistent national reputation in medical education / Application and Interview
Planning and Organising: / Proven ability to plan and develop a range of high quality teaching activities, ensuring plans complement broader education strategy
Proven ability in the design of course units, curriculum development and new teaching approaches / Application and Interview
