PSUK HANDICAP GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS 2018

ABBEYDALE GOLF CLUB, SHEFFIELD

On behalf of the PSUK Committee and the South Yorkshire Police Golf Section, we are delighted to invite you to this year’s PSUK handicap golf championshipsevent, which will be held at Abbeydale Golf Club, Twentywell Lane, Sheffield, S17 4QA.

Recognised as one of the districts finest, the course was designed by the famous architect Herbert Fowler, also renowned for other such designs as Walton Heath and The Berkshire. Set inthe beautiful Beauchief Estate, it provides a memorable golfingexperience forplayers of all handicaps and retains some of the best views of the Derbyshire countryside to be seen anywhere from Sheffield

This year’s field is open to 72 competitors, from Forces around the United Kingdom

Please find enclosed details in connection with the above event, which will be held from Wednesday 29th to Friday 31st August 2018.

Accommodation will be at Double Tree by Hilton, Sheffield Park,Chesterfield Road South, Sheffield, S8 8BW.

The documentation includes:-

2) Tournament entry form.

3) Accommodation form.

The competition is open to all golfers with a current CONGU active handicap. In the event of over subscription, the first 72 applicants will be guaranteed a place and others placed on the reserve list.

Entry fees / Golf Package / Accommodation

The entry fee and cost of accommodation have been negotiated as an inclusive package, with details as below:

1)Shared occupancy is fixed at £215.00.This is non-negotiable, and includes:

  • Green fees for both competition days (Practice day is free)@ £32.50 per day.
  • Evening buffet – Abbeydale Golf Club, Wednesday 29th August @ £11.00
  • Championship Dinner – Abbeydale Golf Club, Thursday 29th August @ £20.00
  • Late lunch – Abbeydale Golf Club, Friday 31st August @ £7.00
  • Competition entry fee - @ £20.00 per competitor.
  • Shared occupancy – 2 night’s bed and breakfast at the Double Tree Hotel,

@ £92.00 per room per night i.e. £46pppn.(Based on two sharing)

2)Shared occupancy is fixed at £287.00. This is non-negotiable, and includes:

  • Green fees for both competition days (Practice day is free) @ £32.50 per day.

Non – competitors

Supporters, team managers or competitors’ partners are welcome if accommodation is available, and includes the full food package. The cost for the package for non-competitors is £130.

Unfortunately, no refunds can be made for any reduction of nights stayed, meals not availed of or golf not played for any reason. Should you be forced to withdraw your entry prior to the Championships, we will only refund your entry fee if we have a reserve competitor to take your place.

Accommodation

The hotel is located within a 5-minute drive from the course and very easy to get to. The hotel has gym and swimming pool facilities which are available to all guests. The hotel also has a good bar available. Breakfast will be served at the hotel.

Transport

The nearest airports are East Midlands, Leeds Bradford and Manchester. Dore Railway Station is within two minutes of the golf course and seven minutes of the hotel. Should you require transport please indicate this on the entry form as this will need to be arranged.

Practice

Practice rounds on Wednesday 29th August will be arranged by myself in four balls. I will attempt to keep participants from the same forces together, allowing for distances to travel. Please request practice times through the championship organiser.

Abbeydalehas extensive practice facilities available with a driving range and short game practice area on site. There is also Moorview Driving Range nearby.

Presentation

The presentation on the Friday will be held straight after the meal and hopefully will be completed by 230pm so participants can set off to travel home at a reasonable time.
