Course Description:
Trains student in architectural construction document development through the completion of typical drawing types for non-residential construction with the emphasis on the design development process. Utilizes prior technical courses to apply comprehensive skills to code research, drawing set organization, detail development and selections, wall section design, and plan and elevation layout. Emphasis will be devoted to using CAD application software for the preparation of finished construction documents. Imported .DXF symbols and drawings, and other advanced CAD features are also studied.

CORE COURSE PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
The student will be able to:
1. Collaborate as part of a project team in the production of architectural drawings and supporting materials for non-residential design and construction. (PGC: AET 1,3,5; CCC 2,3,5,6,7)
2. Demonstrate knowledge of standard building regulations, such as the zoning and building codes and ADAAG, and apply this knowledge in the design and detailing process. . (PGC: AET 1,3,4,5; CCC 1,2,3,5,6,7)
3. Demonstrate an understanding of non-residential construction and building systems as they apply to architectural design and detailing process and ability to interpret product information in graphical form. (PGC: AET 1,2,4,6,8; CCC 2,5,6,7,9)
4. Demonstrate ability to utilize appropriate tools to document the project process in a variety of formats appropriate to the project phase, whether it be design, design development or construction documents. (PGC: AET 1,3,5 CCC 5,6,7)
5. Collaborate effectively as part of a project team on project co-ordination, refinement, and development. (PGC: AET 1,3,5,7 CCC 1,3,4)
6. Utilize accepted industry documentation standards, such as the Uniform Drawing System of the National CAD Standard, in preparation of project documents. (PGC: AET 1,3,5 CCC 1,5,6)
7. Demonstrate use of standard industry references, and other information resources in design, documentation and product selection processes. (PGC: AET 1,2,4,5; CCC 1,2,5,6)

Evaluation Criteria
Students will demonstrate proficiency on all measurable performance objectives at least to the 75 percent level. Course evaluation will be based on the weighted average of tests, drawings and other assignments as outlined by the instructor. The instructor may refuse to accept any test, drawing, or assignment that fails to meet the stated deadline.
