Informa Healthcare Senior Managing Editor

Informa Healthcare, part of the international Informa Group, is searching for a Senior Managing Editor or Managing Editor to join their world-leading brand. In this role, you will successfully oversee all aspects of publishing for an assigned list of journals, serving as the primary point of contact for each journal Editor within the assigned list.

The Managing Editor/Senior Managing Editor will also work with Marketing, Production, and Sales staff to ensure that the assigned list of journals adheres to timely publication schedules, while maximising opportunities for revenue growth and meeting profit goals.At Senior level, you will also champion best practice across the Editorial team, driving special projects and holding workshops/training to help implement best practices for journal management.

DUTIES:

  • Manage all aspects of assigned list of journals to ensure high-quality, timely publication
  • Ensure each journal meets established budgeted goals to maximise profitability.
  • Working with the Editors to identify the journal aim, scope and direction to ensure that the established goals are being met.
  • Ensure that Editor is meeting their production schedule, page budget and all editorial quality standards.
  • Draft contracts and addendums for your assigned list.
  • Negotiate Society arrangements for your assigned list.
  • Attend appropriate conferences and Editorial board meetingsand prepare Publisher’s Reports.
  • Assist the Publisher in preparing proposals and integrating signed journals into the Informa portfolio.
  • Work with the Editor and Sales team to develop topics for Supplement and Reprint opportunities.
  • Support the Editorial team by driving best practice in a variety of areas.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proven experience in a Managing Editor/similar Editorial role.
  • An undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities.
  • A self-starter, with the ability to prioritise on a daily basis and oversee a range of projects.
  • Demonstrable commercial awareness of factors affecting the healthcare journals publishing industry.
