Performer Guidelines and Application

The Grand Opening will include an outdoor street festival with Asian food trailers alongside a food seating area, an outdoor stage with live music and roving performances, community information booths and vendors, and children’s activities. The indoor stage in the grand ballroom will feature a variety of pan-Asian performances, a fashion show and cultural entertainment. The open house will include self-guided tours of the facility with displays of Asian heritage and cultural exhibits.

The AARC is committed to delivering an artistic program that showcases diverse Asian cultures and is inclusive of a variety of performances. The Network of Asian American Organizations entertainment committee will review all performance applications and selections will be made on a variety of criteria including performance category and duration, performance group size, experience, etc. A limited number of performance slots are available and the committee may only be able to accommodate one performance per country to ensure diverse representation in the program.

Grand Opening Schedule / The Grand Opening will begin with an official ceremony and ribbon cutting followed by the indoor/outdoor festival.

*After the ribbon cutting, the outdoor band will be cued to begin playing music. The start of the music signals the start of the street festival.

Please note that all cultural performances will be on a volunteer basis.
Submission Information and Deadline: / Please complete the performer application at the end of this information packet and submit to the committee contact information by Friday, September 6, 2013.
Notification of Acceptance / Groups will be notified of acceptance status the weekend of September 14, 2013 by email or phone to confirm participation.
Performance Venue Specifications /
  • The AARC will provide the sound system, sound technician, stage, microphones, chairs for the audience and a green room for performers.
  • Stage dimensions are 12’x24’
  • Aluminum stage with carpet and step stairs.

Check-In / A performer check-in tent will be located at the facility entry on the day of the grand opening for registration.
Parking / First come, first serve at the City of Austin Rutherford Lane Campus building adjacent to the AARC. Please consider carpooling.
Dress / We encourage all performers to enjoy the grand opening event before and/after your performance. This is an indoor/outdoor event, please dress accordingly.

  • Refreshments will be provided for performers in the green room.
