The Holland International Living Center (HILC) is located in Lowrise 8 North Campus. It is home to 144 residents representing over 60 countries. Our population demography is typically 55% international and 45% US citizenship. 30% of our space is reserve for incoming first year students. The other 70% is for upper classman. HILC offers suite style living arrangement with 2 double and 2 singles in each suite (single gender). Six suites complete a Unit, which has a kitchen and common lounge area. HILC also houses a library, TV lounge, and study rooms.
As an endowed program house within the Cornell Residential System, it is the intention of HILC to not only provides a home away from home for its residents, but to foster a sense of community among all who reside within its walls and those who visit. Our Mission is to educate the Cornell community about international affairs, living, lifestyle, and culture, among other things.
Our many committees offer residents and guests the opportunity to learn, grow and participate. If you would like to be a part of this wonderful living and learning experience, please fill out the application below.

The Residence Selection Committee will determine your acceptance into HILC for the 2010-2011 academic year and your room selection time using the following criteria (listed in no particular order):
  • Contribution to & participation in the HILC community
  • Planning and execution of HILC events
  • Number of total semesters of membership in the HILC community
  • Volunteer and community outreach
  • Participation in the international student community at Cornell University
  • Response to your short answer questions
