PRE-TRIP INSPECTION

INTERNATIONAL 2006 CONVENTIONAL

1. START AT FRONT OF Bus.

2. Check posture of bus. Bus is level. Frame is not warped.

3. Check for obstacles around bus. No obstacles around bus.

4. Check for fluid leaks under front of the bus. No leaks under the bus.

5. Check light lens covers and reflectors. None are cracked, broken, or missing. All are clean and proper color mounted and secure.

6. Check crossing gate. Crossing is gate mounted and secure. No damage.

7. Check engine block heater outlet. Engine block is heater not connected.

8. GO TO RIGHT SIDE OF BUS.

9. Check right side mirrors and brackets. Mirrors and brackets are mounted and secure, none broken, seals are good, they are clean,electrical connection is good and there is no signs of arcing.

10. Check right side windshield. Windshield is clean and not obstructed, no cracks, seal is good.

11. Check right side wiper. Wiper is mounted and secure, spring tension is good, rubber is not cracked or torn, washer hose is connected has no cracks or hole and no leaks.

12. Check right side hood latch. Hood latch is mounted and secure, no damage.

13. Check mud flap. Mud flap mounted and secure, no damage, not obstructing tire. 14. GO TO LEFT SIDE OF BUS 15. Check left side mirrors and brackets. Mirrors and brackets are mounted and secure, none broken, seals are good, they are clean and electrical connection is good, no signs of arcing.

16. Check left side windshield. Windshield not obstructed, not cracked, seal is good.

17. Check left side wiper. Wiper is mounted and secure, spring tension is good, rubber is not cracked or torn, washer hose mounted and secure has no crack or holes and see no leaks.

18. Check left side hood latch. Hood latch mounted and secure, no damage.

19. Check mud flap. Mud flap mounted and secure, no damage, not obstructing tire.

20. Check hood for damage. Open hood. No damage to hood.

21. Check electrical wiring harness. Electrical wiring harness is covered, no damage as far as I can tell, mounted and secure, no signs of arcing.

22. Check air hoses. Air hoses are mounted and secure, no cracks or holes, hear no leaks.

23. Check heater hoses and cut-off valves. Heater hoses and cut-off valves are mounted and secure no cracks or holes, see no leaks and cut-off valves move freely.

24. Check transmission fluid. Bus needs to be running to check, transmission fluid, should read between the add and full marks.

25. Check oil. The oil level should read between the add and full marks, level is ok. 26. Check air compressor and lines. Air compressor and lines are mounted and secure no cracks or holes, hear no leaks, compressor is mechanical driven.

27. Check power steering pump. Power steering pump is mounted and secure, no cracks or damage, see no leaks, it is mechanical driven.

28. Check power steering reservoir and hoses. Power steering reservoir and 3 hoses are mounted and secure, no cracks, see no leaks, cap is on tight, level is adequate, cap has a hot and cold reading.

29. Check top radiator hose. Top radiator hose is mounted and secure, no cracks or damage, see no leaks.

30. Check coolant reservoir and lines. Coolant reservoir and lines are mounted and secure, no cracks, see no leaks, coolant level is good, reading between the eye checks and cap is secure.

31. Check steering column and u joints. Steering column and u joints are mounted and secure, steering column is not bent, cracked, or loose.

32. Check power steering box. Power steering box is mounted and secure, no cracks or damage, see no leaks.

33. Check Pittman arm. Pittman arm is mounted and secure, not bent or cracked, cotter pin is in place.

34. Check drag link. Drag link is mounted and secure, not bent or cracked, cotter pin is in place.

35. Check drag link steering arm. Drag link steering arm is mounted and secure, not bent or cracked, cotter pin is in place.

36. Check tie rod end. Tie rod end is mounted and secure, not bent or cracked, cotter pin is in place..

37. Check front and rear spring shackles. Spring shackles are not cracked or bent, mounted and secure.

38. Check leaf springs. Leaf springs is mounted and secure, none missing or broken.

39. Check U bolts. U bolts are mounted and secure no damage.

40. Check shock absorber. Shock absorber is mounted and secure, fully extended, see no leaks.

41. Check air chamber air line and ABS line.Air chamber, lines and ABS line are mounted and secure, no holes or cracks, hear no leaks.

42. Check slack adjuster. Slack adjuster is mounted and secure, cotter pin is in place, push rod is not bent or broken. If more than 1” slack, adjustment is required.

43. Check steering ring knuckle. Steering ring knuckle is ok as far as I can tell.

44. Check brake drums and shoes. Brake drums and shoes can not have any cracks, excessive brake dust, rust, grease or oils. Are ok as far as I can tell, they are covered.

45. Check inside rim. Inside rim has no cracks, welds, or excessive rust.

46. Check inside of tire. Tire can have no: Cuts, bruises, blisters, or bulges, and has even tread wear.

47. Check tire tread and inflation. Tire tread must be at least 4/32 tread on front tire, no re-capped, re-grooved, of mismatched tires. (USE TIRE BUDDY), Hit tire, Inflation is good.

48. Check outside of tire. Tire can have no cuts, bruises, blisters, or bulges.

49.Check outside rim. Outside rim has no cracks, welds, or excessive rust.

50. Check lug nuts. Lug nuts mounted and secure, no excessive rust, none missing.

51. Check hub oil seal. Hub oil seal is mounted and secure, see no leaks, and level is good.

52. Check valve stem. Valve stem is mounted and secure, no damage, cap is in place, hear no leaks.

53. GO TO RIGHT SIDE OF BUS.

54. Check bottom radiator hose. Bottom radiator is mounted and secure, no cracks, see no leaks.

55. Check radiator and fan. Radiator and fan is mounted and secure, see no leaks, no damage, fan is belt driven

56. Check serpentine belt. Serpentine belt is not cracked, frayed, or worn, can not check, it is self adjusting. If it were V type belt, it could have no more than ¾” play or it would have to be adjusted.

57. Check alternator and wires. Alternator and wires are mounted and secure, no damage and it is belt driven.

58. Check water pump. Water pump is mounted and secure, no cracks or holes and see no leaks, pump is belt driven.

59. Check exhaust clamp. Exhaust clamp is mounted and secure, no holes or damage to exhaust under the hood.

60. Check heater hoses and cut-off valves. Heater hoses and cut-off valves are mounted and secure no cracks or damage, see no leaks, cut-off valves moves freely.

61. Check windshield washer fluid. Reservoir and connections are mounted and secure, no damage, see no leaks, level is good.

62. Check front and rear spring shackles. Spring shackles are mounted and secure, not cracked or bent no damage.

63. Check leaf springs. Leaf spring is mounted and secure, none missing or broken.

64. Check U bolts. U bolts are mounted and secure, no damage.

65. Check shock absorber. Shock absorber is mounted and secure, fully extended, see no leaks.

66. Check tie rod end. Tie rod end is mounted and secure, not bent or cracked, cotter pin is in place.

67. Check tie rod steering arm. Tie rod steering arm is mounted and secure, not bent or cracked, cotter pin is in place

68. Check air chamber, air lines and ABS line. Air chamber, air line and ABS line are mounted and secure, no cracks or holes, hear no leaks.

69. Check slack adjuster. Slack adjuster is mounted and secure, cotter pin is in place, push rod is not bent or broken. If more than 1” slack, adjustment is required.

70. Steering ring knuckle. Steering ring knuckle is ok as far as I can tell.

71. Check brake drums and shoes. Brake drums and shoes can not have any cracks, excessive brake dust, rust, grease or oils. Are ok as far as I can tell, they are covered.

72. Check inside rim. Inside rim has no cracks, welds, or excessive rust.

73. Check inside of tire. Tire can have no cuts, bruises, blisters, or bulges and has even tread wear.

74. Check tire tread and inflation. Tire tread must be at least 4/32 tread on front tire, no re-capped, re-grooved, of mismatched tires. (USE TIRE BUDDY), Hit tire, Inflation is good.

75. Check outside of tire. Tire can have no cuts, bruises, blisters, or bulges, and has even tread wear.

76. Check outside rim. Outside rim has no cracks, welds, or excessive rust

77. Check lug nuts. Lug nuts mounted and secure, no excessive rust, none missing.

78. Check hub oil seal. Hub oil seal is mounted and secure, see no leaks, level is good.

79. Check valve stem. Valve stem is mounted and secure, no damage, cap is in place, hear no leaks.

80. FASTEN HOOD LATCH ON RIGHT AND MOVE TO THE LEFT SIDE AND FASTEN HOOD LATCH

81. Check left side light lens covers, reflectors, and windows. Lens covers, reflectors, and windows are mounted and secure, none are broken or missing and they are the proper color.

82. Check fuse box. Fuse boxhas (2) two extra fuses.

83. Check battery box. Batteries have no leaks, no corrosion on cables, cables are mounted to post, see no leaks, lever is used to slide tray out. 84. Check stop arm. Stop arm lens covers not cracked, broken, or missing. Cable is not frayed or worn, (3) three cotter pins are in place, electrical connections are not damaged or broken, rubber boot is in good condition, hear no leaks.

85. Check air tank and lines. Air tank and lines are mounted and secure, no cracks or damage, hear no leaks.

86. Check frame. Frame has no cracks, broken welds or excessive rust.

87. Check drive shaft. Drive shaft is not bent or cracked, no foreign objects, has (3) three mid-shaft bearings, (4) four shaft guards or yolks, (5) five universal joints and no obstructions in the couplings.

88. Check muffler and exhaust pipe. Muffler and exhaust pipe are mounted and secure no excessive rust or holes.

89. Check (2) air chambers and air lines. Air chamber and lines are mounted and secure, no cracks or holes, hear no leaks.

90. Check (2) slack adjusters. Slack adjusters are mounted and secure, cotter pins are in place, push rods are not bent or broken as far as I can tell. If more than 1” slack, adjustment is required.

91. Check side emergency door. Door opens and closes freely, rubber seal is good, mounted and secure.

92. Check front spring bracket. Spring bracket is mounted and secure, not cracked or bent no damage.

93. Check spring liner. Spring liner is mounted and secure, no broken or missing parts.

94. Check U-bolts. U-bolts are mounted and secure, no damage, as far as I can tell.

95. Check brake drums and shoes. Brake drums and shoes can not have any cracks, excessive brake dust, rust, grease or oils. Are ok as far as I can tell, they are covered.

96. Check insides rims. Inside rim has no cracks, welds, or excessive rust, there are no obstructions between tires, these are bud rims there is not a spacer in place.

97. Check tire tread and inflation.Tire tread must be at least 2/32 tread on rear tires, has even tread wear, can have re-capped, re-grooved, cannot have mismatched tires. (USE TIRE BUDDY), Hit tire, Inflation is good.

98. Check outside of tire. Tire can have no cuts, bruises, blisters, or bulges

99. Check outside rim. Outside rim has no cracks, welds, or excessive rust.

100. Check lug nuts. Lug nuts mounted and secure, no excessive rust, none missing.

101. Check hub oil seal. Hub oil seal is mounted and secure, see no leaks.

101. Check valve stems. Valve stems are mounted and secure, no damage, caps are in place, hear no leaks.

102. GO TO THE BACK OF BUS.

103. Check posture of bus. Bus is level. Frame is not warped.

104. Check light lens covers, reflectors, and windows. Lens covers, reflectors, and windows are mounted and secure, none are broken or missing and they are the proper color.

105. Check rear emergency door. Door opens and closes freely, rubber seal is good, mounted and secure.

106. Check for fluid leaks under bus. There are no leaks under bus.

107. Check exhaust pipe and overhang. Exhaust pipe is mounted and secure no excessive rust or holes, has a minimum 0” to 2” overhang.

108. Check air spring assembly. Air spring assemblies are mounted and secure no damage and hear no leaks.

109. Check shock absorber. Shock absorber is mounted and secure, fully extended, see no leaks.

110. GO TO RIGHT SIDE OF BUS.

111. Check light lens covers, reflectors, and windows. Lens covers, reflectors, and windows are mounted and secure, none are broken, and they are the proper color.

110. Check storage box for triangles. There are three reflective triangles in storage box.

112. Check front spring bracket. Spring bracket is mounted and secure, not cracked or bent no damage.

113. Check spring liner. Spring liner is mounted and secure, no broken or missing parts.

114. Check U-bolts. U-bolts are mounted and secure as far as I can tell.

115. Check brake drums and shoes. Brake drums and shoes can not have any cracks, excessive brake dust, rust, grease or oils. Are ok as far as I can tell, they are covered.

116. Check inside rims. Inside rims have no cracks, welds, or excessive rust, there are no obstructions between tires, and these are bud rims.

117. Check tire tread and inflation. Tire treadmust be at least 2/32 tread on rear tires, can have re-capped, re-grooved, cannot have mismatched tires. (USE TIRE BUDDY), Hit tire, Inflation is good.

118. Check outside of tire. Tire can have no cuts, bruises, blisters, or bulges and has even tread wear.

119. Check outside rim. Outside rim has no cracks, welds, or excessive rust.

120. Check lug nuts. Lug nuts are mounted and secure, no excessive rust, none missing.

121. Check hub oil seal. Hub oil seal is mounted and secure, see no leaks.

122. Check valve stems. Valve stems are mounted and secure, no damage, caps are in place, hear no leaks.

123. Check fuel tank and cage. Fuel tank and cage are mounted and secure and feel no moisture on bottom of fuel tank.

124. Remove fuel cap. Fuel cap is ok and rubber seal is in place.

125. Check service door glass and rubber. Door opens and closes freely, glass is clean not broken or cracked, and rubber is in good condition,

126. Check Step well light. Step well light lens cover is mounted and secure, not cracked or broken.

127. Check steps and covering. Steps are mounted and secure. Floor covering is not torn or missing.

128. Check fire extinguisher. Fire extinguisher is mounted and secure, is properly rated, charged and in the green, pin is in place, and no obstructions in the hose.

129. Check for first aid kit, body fluid kit and web cutter. First aid kit, body fluid kit and web cutter are present

130. Check driver’s seat. Driver’s seat is mounted and secure (rock).

131. Sit down and buckle seat belt. Seat belt works.

132. Make all adjustments needed for driving at this time.

133. Safety check park brake. Tug on park brake and ensure bus is neutral.

134. Start bus, switch door switch to automatic position and close the door and turn on head lights. At this time you will need to tell the examiner that your bus is equipped with an Antilock braking system and that the indicator light does workand it will stay for 3 to 5 seconds.

135. Check mirror adjustment. Mirrors are adjusted so that I can see and are clean.

136. Check windshield. Windshield is not obstructed, clean, and rubber seal is in good condition.

137. Check steering wheel. Can have no more than 2” play in a 20” wheel. Indicate throttle switches and that horn works.

138. Move to switch panel. Identify and operate all switches and controls, and indicate all indicator lights with each switch.

139. Check heater cutoff valve. (Located on floor by left foot). Heater cut- off valve is mounted and secure and no leaks.

140. Move to instrument panel. Identify each gauge and readand show that the oil pressure and tachometer work, also include park brake, gear selector, ignition switch, radio if equipped.

141. Service brake check. Roll bus forward and apply service brake.

142. Park brake check. Safety tug on park brake, put bus in gear, and raise engine up to 1500 rpms.

143. Stop motor, turn key to acc., walk to back of bus to turn off the no child left behind alarm.
