Job Title: Site Services Assistant
Reporting to: Estates Manager

1. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

All members of the Estates Team are required to contribute to the duties detailed below, including shift and call-out requirements and be flexible in the nature of the duties, cover, emergency arrangements and work periods.

2. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

a) / Security. Locking and unlocking all college buildings as required, setting and releasing intruder alarm systems and attending to other security situations, such as personal protection alarms. There is a requirement to open / close the College at weekends when an event takes place. This is carried out on a rota.
b) / Janitorial Duties. To support the day time cleaner / janitor as required in provisioning toilets, laboratories, workrooms, etc. with towels, toilet paper and sundries on a regular basis. In addition, to provide emergency cleaning in any area of the college, e.g. classrooms, toilet areas as required.
c) / Portering. To assist with the movement of furniture and equipment as and when necessary, including setting up for examinations, college functions, shows, etc. and for outside lettings.
d) / Emergency Arrangements. To respond to emergency situations relating to premises, plant and facilities. This includes being on-call outside of working hours.
e) / Car-Parking. Monitoring, controlling and reporting on the parking of vehicles, including security patrols as part of the preventative measures against theft or damage.
f) / Litter Control. To support the day time cleaner / janitor as required in maintaining college grounds free of litter and debris (including the external boundary hedging, etc.) and regularly emptying the litterbins.
g) / Maintenance. To identify first line maintenance by interrogating the Estates Ticket system and prioritise accordingly. Investigation work to be carried out within 24 hours and liaise with Estates Manager if any issues occur.
h)
i) / Reporting. Reporting and preparing information on defects, improvements and repair and maintenance work required to be listed for future action, with particular reference to meeting H&S requirements. All reports to be logged in the Spiceworks ticket system.
Fire Protection. To carry out weekly fire alarm checks of all buildings and record in fire test log. To assist the Team Leader when termly fire drills take place
j) / Manage and maintain the stores area, ensuring all goods received are properly logged and distributed to the correct staff in a timely manner.
k) / Take responsibility for own job-related and personal development.

n) / Proactively managing and minimising risk within all areas of responsibility.
o) / Attend and contribute to Team meetings as and when requested.
p) / Comply with/implement College policies including child protection, health & safety and equality & diversity.
q) / Participate in any relevant in-service training.
r) / Undertake appropriate personal and professional development activities and record on the College CPD system.
s) / Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons who you are responsible for or come into contact with.
