The following clip art are transparent pages from Joy:
The field was special to Jeremiah because the first time he went there he was sad until
he met who lived in the field and he began to laugh.
The grass in the field grew long and thick and the sunshine was very bright.
Out onto the special field walked Jeremiah, one step at a time, ever so carefully. As each foot pressed gently down, the long blades of grass leaned forward.
Jeremiah walked deeper into the field until he began to see his special friends who lived there.
One by one out they popped, more and more, longer they hopped, until Jeremiah got to where he stopped.
He sat on the ground and around him they flocked.
Jeremiah sat on the grass in the midst of the grasshopper family.
He took from his pocket what he had brought along, and they all hopped closer to see.
When his hand opened up and they looked inside, they saw the young bumblebee.
They thought that maybe they should run and hide,
but the bee was as sick as could be.
“What was the matter?” asked the grasshopper doctor.
“let me take a look and see. Why the bumblebee has one broken wing, and one that is bent quite bad!”
And the bumblebee cried with a tear in his eye when the grasshoppers started to giggle.
He wanted to get out of that place and fly, but alls he could do was wiggle.
Jeremiah told the grasshopper committee that the bee’s precious life being hurt was a pity. With that on their minds they discussed what to do...
They measured the bees’ feet for some grasshopper shoes.
When the bumblebee saw how they cared, he felt better. So he put on his hat and he zipped up his sweater.
He put on his new shoes and felt totally grand. They were green with a stripe and a rubbery band that tied around his ankle and attached to his hand,
