Dear Conway Families,

We are fast approaching the holiday season and colder winter months. This letter is being sent home to all Conway families for use by anyone who might need assistance to obtain food and/or warm clothing. It contains information concerning area resources that offer assistance. Working together we can ease some of the challenges facing area families who may be struggling to make ends meet.

“Shoes for Students” is a program through the Salvation Army that awards vouchers to purchase shoes for those students who need them. Please contact Nurse Susan at 361-1455 for additional information.

Salvation Armywill be accepting registrations from October 10th through October 14th for assistance with Thanksgiving turkeys, Christmas food and a limited supply of Christmas presents.

Registration is being held at a new location: First Christian Church 1501 Washington Ave Fredericksburg,22401. (not at the Salvation Army Church) Mon,-Fri. 9:30AM-4:00 PM, You must have ALL of the following documents with you at registration: Photo ID, Proof of current address or current lease, Birth Certificate or custody papers for each child, Proof of all household income and benefits, or proof of no income. Stafford County Department of Social Services (DSS) provides assistance for holiday food and gifts to qualified applicants. You must register fromOct.3-Oct.7nd at Regester Chapel UMC’s Youth Center in Stafford. Times and info on the back of this sheet. For more information you can call the Stafford DSS Holiday Team at 658-8732.(Please do not call or leave messages at Regester Chapel UMC!)

S.E.R.V.E. will be helping for the holidays as well, beginning in October 17th. If you receive SNAP benefits you are required to sign up with DSS for the holidays. If you are interested in either please contact S.E.R.V.E directly by calling (540) 288-9603 before time to find out what documentation you need to bring.

These local organizations help many StaffordCounty families and always welcome our contributions. Contact the organization for specific information concerning donations. If your family is in need of assistance, please contact one of these organizations or feel free to call one of us at Conway and we’ll gladly help you find the resources you need.
