- Neonatal educator with HOC MÃI, 2007 - The Australia Vietnam Medical Foundation, The University of Sydney – an international educational effort between the University of Sydney and the Ministry for Health, Vietnam. This involves developing and conducting week long perinatal workshops conducted in Hanoi, with the goal of ‘training the trainer’ and improving perinatal health and mortality in Vietnam.
- Co-investigator and member of the Australian based Cochrane Collaboration Activities – Neonatal Review Group Support Group. This group provides support for Australasian reviewers for the Cochrane Collaboration including outreach workshops.
I am skilledin, and intensively conduct, opportunistic teaching in a clinical setting and integrate Evidence Based Practice into clinical teaching and practice.
I have had an extensive involvement in and understanding of Problem Based Learning, use of educational methods such as workshops and SCORPIO, and teaching of multidisciplinary groups.
I have developed and run regular courses in Evidence Based Medicine for postgraduate medical and nursing staff at RPA Newborn Care, and as a consultant for an International Educational Initiative for the Republic of Macedonia both at RPA Women and Babies and the Republic of Macedonia. I organise and facilitate monthly critical appraisals by Obstetric and Gynaecology and Neonatal Trainees at RPA Women and Babies.
I am Chair of the Neonatal Examination Committee for the Graduate Medical Programme, University of Sydney – responsible for the development of Neonatal Assessments and development of a new Neonatal Curriculum Grid, 2006-2007. I have contributed to the development of assessments including OSCE’s, Short Answer Questions and Modified Essay Questions and I am a regular examiner using these tools.
