Open Forum

Geology Club - Ron Metzger: I turned in a funds request for $100, we have met all the requirements and the funds will go to cover mileage cost for club field trips. I also turned in a funds request for up to $250 to match any fundraised money this term.

Advisor Report

  1. The Accreditation committee will be here in April and will review what Southwestern is doing and talk with faculty, ASG, and students
  2. Graduation is coming up, each of you need to get to me three quotes and a poem for the Diplomas
  3. This Thursday from 7-10PM we are doing AM in the PM, for students to study and have breakfast for dinner
  4. We have a blood drive next Wednesday, the 21st of March from 10-4PM, talk to Eddie or Lindsey if you want to help out

Executive Reports

President

  • I had a discussion about Green Week, we are trying to get a recycling bin for old cell phones and batteries
  • I am still working on the Food Bank idea

Vice President

  • Tomorrow I am presenting a speech in my class about voting and hopefully that will get some students interested in voting
  • It is probably too late in the term to start elections, people are busy with finals and studying right now, I propose that we start the election process at the beginning of next term

Secretary

  • Nothing to report

Director Reports

Activities Director

  • We have the arcade event this Saturday, Karina just reserved the bus and Kyle volunteered to drive for us
  • Hopefully you all will be there and we need to put an event on Facebook to get the word out
  • I called about the Town Hall meeting and Mark wants to do an event that involves a discussion with students.
  • It would be up to us if we wanted to open the Town Hall meeting to the public
  • Elections are in May and they are hoping to come in before the end of April
  • I sent an e-mail to Tom Nichols about finding out about the Student Fees
  • We are having a discussion about the school mascot tomorrow, just let me know if there is any more input about the mascot

Clubs Director

  • Karina and I are meeting with the Nursing Club on Wednesday this week
  • I met also with some other clubs this last week and worked a lot on the Clubs Manual
  • I won’t have any classes after 11 next term, so I will be able to run Club Rush by myself

Communications Director

  • Thank you to Scylise for putting up the Laker Loos
  • I haven’t had time to get the new holders up this week, probably next week
  • I will get the Laker Loo for the beginning of spring term done and Melissa will have to add events to it later
  • Melissa would probably be the best candidate to take over the Laker Loo
  • I will be taking more pictures at bowling tonight and maybe take some pictures at the blood drive

Sustainability Director

  • We are going to make a recycle bin that will go in Lighthouse Depot for cans and bottles to go in

Curry Representative

  • I’ve had so many students ask about getting more trash cans and recycle bins, how would I go about getting funds to get more? (Karina – Talk to Janet about it and get the students to sign a petition to get more trash cans if it comes to that)
  • Our activities director decided to take on an event, who would he need to contact about it? (Karina)

Other Business

Ethan – Has anyone heard from any of the senators? Karina has only heard from Justin.
