캐릭터-호이/County Character- ho-i
Ho-i is an abbreviation for “oguk-i” meaning a person who died fighting gloriously in defense for their country. Hoi represents the spirit of the patriots who died for the country, and also symbolizes Chilgok as a home front for defending the motherland.

가산/Mt. Gasansan Mountain/901.6m/가산면, 동명면
InRare plants grow near the Gasanbawi rock, Gasan mountainMountain Fortress and other tourist attractions, rare plants grow. Mt. 유학산/Mt. Yuhaksan Yuhaksan Mountain/839m/가산면다부리, 학산리, 석적읍성곡리
Mt. Yuhaksan Yuhaksan mountain means a mountain where cranes play. As for attactionsattractions, the mountain boasts the DobongsaTemple and Hakbawi or (Crane Rock). Hakbawi is a notable place for wall climbing. Mt. Yuhaksan Yuhaksan mountain was a hard-fought battlefield of the Dabu-dong Battle during the Korean War.

Mt. GeumhosanGumohsan mountain is well known in the Youngnam area. The mMain top mountainpeakoin the North East part extends to Gumi, on and the West part extends to Kimcheon, on the South part stretches to Chilgok-gun Buksam-eub Chuoongoh-ri. There are steep rock walls, a cave named Yaheun, the remains of the Mt. Geumhosan Gumoh mountain fortress on at the peak. People visit GeumhodongcheonGumohdong stream which is located near Buksam-eub for relaxation.

Mt. Youngamsan mountain is surrounded by 3 areas. They are Chilgok-gun Buksam-eub, Kimcheon-siNam-myun, Seongju-gun Chojeon-myun. To the North, you can find the provincial park, Mt. GeumhosanGumohsan mountain.

Mt. Nujinsan mountain is placed between Seongju-gun and Chilgok-gun. On the top of it, main roads and buildings of Gumi can be seen in sight.

송림사/Songnimsa tTemple
SongnimsaTemple was established in 544 (5th year of King Jinheung, Silla Dynasty). The original temple was burnt down during the Mongolian Invasion and the First Japanese Invasions and was rebuilt in 1858. Daewangjeon Main Worshipping Hall has beauty and grandeur while Myeonbujeon Hall is the largest one in the nation.

영명사/Youngmyongsa temple
It was built in September 25, 1932. There are 2 buildings. Those They are called Bubdang No 1, and Yosa No 2. As a Buddhist remains, tThere are 6 statues and 5 paintings among the Buddhist remains.
금곡사/Keumgoksa temple
It is known that Kimran has built the temple in 633(Queen of Virtue, the 7th year as a queen) but today’temple site is not on the same site which was built in 633. The Ccurrent Kukrak building was constructed in 1959. The Ccurrent temple site is on aa hill of 2 kilometersdistanceaway from the Keumhwazi (the western part of Mt.Gasamsan).
대둔사/Daedunsa Ttemple
People say that iwas made by someone in the Silla Dynasty, but we do not know when it was constructed. The place is well-known thatfor the Silla chivalryknight who unified the 3 nations, did ascetic exercise here. It is located on the hill of Eeastern face of Mt.Gasansan facing Mt.Palgongsan. It is 420 meters above the sea level.
도덕암/Doduckam tTemple
In 968(when CoreaKorea was ruled by king of Light for 19 years in a row), one of the masters of CoreaKorea named Haegue repaired the temple and gave a name onnamed it by Chilseongam. However, there hashave been a couple of repairs due to the fire during a Japanese Attack. The temple was renamed as Doduckam while it was being brought back to the former state in 1853 (when CoreaKorea was ruled by king of Brightness for 4 years in a rewrow).
선봉사/Sunbongsa Ttemple
The sect of Sunbong tTemple is the Chuntae sect. It was located at in the southern part which was 200 meters away from current stone monument. The past temple was disappeared during the year of the Japanese Attack in Imjin year. The site is surrounded by fields. Its entrance road is unpaved and people converted a house into a temple here.
한티순교성지/Hanti Sacred Ground for Catholicism
Situated in deep in the mountains 600m above sea level, the Hanti sacred ground of Catholicism is a village of Catholics. It was first established in 1815. About 30 Catholics died as martyrs in 1866 when Catholicism suffered persecution.
신나무골성지/Sinnamugol Martyrs Park
Sinnamugol Village was the birthplace of the Daegu Catholic Archdiocese (Daegu Grand Parish). A French Reverend, Kim Bo-rok, first established a Catholic church in 1805 in this village. Sinnamugol village was formed as a Catholic village during the religious persecution (Eulhae Persecution) around 1815. There, people led a religious life in secrecy to avoid persecution. The Catholics from the nearby Hanti Village came and went to the Sinnamugol Village at night to enhance their religious life.
성베네딕도회왜관수도원/St. Benedict Waegwan Abbey
It started from 1909. 5 mean in religion wasere dispatched to Seoul from the Benedict Otilien Monastery in Gemany. They began to teach people and did missionary social work in work in North Korea.
칠곡왜관철교/Chilgok Waegwan Bridge
This railroad bridge was established as a military rail line formdeformed by Japan in order to invade the Asian Continent. It was demolished in order to prevent the Japanese from crossing the river in August, 1950. It was quickly restored in October, 1950, and is now used as a footbridge.
다부동전적기념관/Dabudong War Memorial Museum
During the Korean War, Korean soldiers garnered a laudable victory at the Dabudong battle. With the victory as a momentum, the subsequent counter-attack made the national army advance towards the north. To commemorate the victory, this war memorial was established. In this tank-shaped war memorial, various firearms used during the battle and other war loot are on exhibitdisplay.

왜관지구전적기념관/Waegwan War Memorial Museum
This memorial was established in 1978 to commemorate the UN forces that fought during the Korean War and their victory in at the Nakdong River Battle. Arms and military uniforms which were then used are on display in the memorial.
송정자연휴양림/SongJeong Recreational Forest
It was opened with accommodation facilitiesy with 4 log huts, 2 yellow ocher houses, and 1 log cabin in July 2006 putting 1.,840,000,000 billion won into 63.6 hectares all over Bangye-ri, Seokjeokeup.
도개온천/Dogae Hot Spring
This alkaline hot spring gushes from 820m underground and is a famous curative for chronic diseases, neuralgia and obesity. The water contains many efficacious materials for the skin including germanium and sulfur.
금화계곡/Geumhwa Valley
Geumhwa Valley is Ilocated around the upper stream of the Geumhwa Reservoir. With its crystal clear water, the valley is renowned as a summer vacation spot.
요술의고개/Magic Pass
This 180m long hill causes an optical illusion to see anmaking an uphill road appear as a downhill road.
낙화담/Nakhwadam Reservoir
A tragic legend has it that the village women jumped off the cliff into Nakhwadam Reservoir to prevent themselves from being disgraced by invaders during the First Japanese Invasion of the Joseon Dynasty. The name was taken from the legend meaning “throw themselves into the pond like falling blossoms.”
신동재/Sindongjae Pass
Sindongjae Pass, South Korea’largest honey preducingproducingarea,area is covered with so much acacia it appears to be as if it is covered with white snow on the mountain every year in May. In particular, the acacia trees along the 5km Sindongjae Pass area seems like a channel of the tunnel’fantastic natural scenery so that festival is held each year.

The Bank of Korea Chanjinhon destroyed, including doctors Dobyonchoru, Ichangi, Idzusoku, including six doctors Gonripudoe Students selected a monument to the patriots who are usually followed by a procession of worshipers.
가산바위/Gasan-bawi Rock
The Rock, situated near the top of Mt. Gasansan, is so flat and large that 100 people can climbstand on the rock at a time. There is a legend that Doseon, a high priest, buried an iron cow and a horse to catch the gods of earth.
가산산성야영장/Mt. Gasansa Mountain Fortress Campsite
The Mt. Gasansan mountain fortress wall camp site locatesdin 600 meters above the sea level below the Hanti ridge of Mt. Palgongsan mountain. It has a scenic beauty with an outdoor recreation center so making it a that it could be perfect place for groups, students, and communities to camp on or play corporatelytogether.
한티재/Hanti-jae Passt
The Hanti-jae Pass, 700m above sea level, has a nice view. It is on the way to the Gasan Mountain Fortress and the Gunwi Samjonseokgul (alias the second Seokguram grotto). The Pass is particularly loved in the summer by citizens who go there to escape the heat.

매원지수상골프연습장/Maewonji Water Golf Practice Range
This is a water golf practice range created near the Maewonji Reservoir. You can practice golf while hitting balls to into the wide open water side. With 32 tees, its surrounding area is well manicured like a park.

▶송림사오층전탑Five-Storied Brick Pagoda Songnim Temple
This 16.13m tall brick pagoda is presumed to date back tobe of the Unified Silla Dynasty. The golden ornaments of the upper part of the pagoda are replicas of the original ones.(Treasure No. 189, Dongmyeong-myeon gudeok-ri)
▶선봉사대각국사비/Daegak-guksa Monument of Sunbongsa Temple
The monument was dbuilt in 1132 to commemorate the achievements of Uicheon, Alias Daegak-guksa, who established the religion Cheontae-jong. Figures on the monument are still delicate and magnificent even through many centuries have past since it was built.

It is presumed to be ofdate back to the Unified Silla Dynasty, Wide and round engravings are inscribed on each side of the stylobates.

▶가산산성/Mt. Gasansan Mountain Fortress
After the invasions of Japan into Korea in 1592 and 1636, the mountain fortress was built with triple layers of inner, middle, and outer fortress walls. Begun in 1640, construction of the fortress continued for 99 years. A local administrative office was set up within the fortress for about 180years.

▶신동입석/Sindong Menhir
Menhir and dolmens are good examples for ofshowing the lifestyle in the Bronze Age. This menhir is the tallest in Korea standing 4.5m high and 2m in circumference at the bottom. The word Namu-amitabul which means “onvertedconverted to Buddhisma” is inscribed on it.
▶신유장군유적/Historic Site of General Sin Yu
This is a place where a memorial tablet of General Sin Yu from the Joseon Dynasty is enshrined. General Sin Yu completely destroyed the Russian army near the Heilung River in 1658, and he left Bukjeong-ilgi, a book which tells the whole story of the battle.
