・HRT shows the alphabet cards; A to Z. ALTsaysA to Z; one by one, in time with the HRT. Students repeat after the ALT one by one.
・Putting the large town-picture card on the blackboard and showing the letter card “A,” HRT asks the class where they can find the letter.
HRT: Listen carefully to ~sensei(ALT). Can you find “A”in this picture? (pointing at the model town on the blackboard)
ALT: Look at this! (showing a card “A”) This is analphabet “A.”Look at this picture. Where is “A”? Can you find it? Let’s find “A”in the town picture.
Students: (pointing at“A”) Here?
HRT: Excellent! Now, find all the alphabet letters inthis town picture.
・Students begin to find the alphabet letters in thepicture.After finding the alphabet letters, students go up to the blackboard and point at the letter. To finish the activity, teacherscheck the results together.
・HRT asks the class to make pairs, put one textbook between them and look at pages 4-5.
HRT: Now, please listen to ~sensei.
ALT: Look at your textbook. I’ll say an alphabet letter. Guess what letter and find it in the picture. Which one can point to it faster? The fasterone gets one point. How many points can you get? Now, let’s play!

10min. / Let's Sing(p.5)“The Alphabet Song”
・HRT puts the alphabet cardsA to Z one by one on the blackboard, ALT says the name of the letters and students repeat after ALT.
・HRT asksthe class to listen to CD#3. Students listen to it.
・Teachers show how to sing “The Alphabet Song”in time to the CD with gestures.
・Imitating the teachers, students sing the songin time to the CD with gestures.

・HRT& ALT tellthe class how to get ready for the Alphabet Karuta Game.
HRT: Make groups. Let’s play the Alphabet Karuta Game. Sit around the desks. Now, listen carefully to ~sensei.
ALT: Open your textbooks to pages 65-67. First,cut out all thealphabet cardsfrom your textbook. Second,write your name on the back.
Students: (cutting away cards from textbook and writing names)
ALT: Are you ready?Now,use one set in each group and space out the cards on the desk.
HRT: All right? Now, let’s play the Alphabet Karuta Game.
ALT: I’ll say an alphabet letter. When you findit, touch and take it. OK? Who can touchthe fastest? Who cangetthe most?
HRT: Are you ready? Go!
ALT: F! F! F!
・When the game is finished, teachers check the results and praise the winners.
