2015League Rules
The 6th grade league/5th grade scrimmage will follow all WIAA football rules except rules listed below:
- Fumbles and muffed balls can be advanced (not blocked punts)
- Either a TDY or TDJ can be used. I each team chooses to use a different size ball. On Kick-offs the receiving team’s ball will be used. If the ball is punted, the punting team’s ball will be punted.
- We will play 8 minute quarters of stop clock play. Courtesy is expected with any 2nd half lead of 35+ points: Continuous clock and rushing the ball exclusively may be considered.
- The weight limit for ball carriers is 125 Lbs for both grades without equipment. This weight should be established at the beginning of the season. Players identified at that time are the only eligible carriers for the season. Players above the ball carrier weight may only play offensive line.
- For5th grade punts will punt from 10 yards behind the line of scrimmage. Kicking team may choose to snap from center, still no rush from defense. Fake punts are not allowed in either grade.
- 6th grade will punt as normal per WIAA rules.
- The defense may not make any actions intended to simulate the snap of the ball or draw the offense off sides. Shifts intended to deceive are not allowed.
- 2 coaches in the huddle for5th grade, but are not allowed to coach during the play.
- On offense – any formations that are within the WIAA rules can be used.
- At the 5thgrade level there will be no more than 6 defensive players lined up within 3 yards of the line of scrimmage. Linebackers are NOT allowed to blitz at the snap, but after the ball is snapped they are allowed “normal” pursuit.
- 6th grade defenses may not play more than 6 players on the line, but may blitz a maximum of one player from a depth of at least three yards.
- “Crack-back” blocks are not allowed. Blocks intentionally aimed at blindsiding a player are not allowed.
- Recommended that the Head official must be WIAA certified and have a copy of these rules on hand.
- A pre game meeting between opposing coaches and officials is required
- Coaches are responsible for keeping themselves 2 yards from the sideline.
- Parents should also be a reasonable distance away from the sideline. This issue should be addressed with parents prior to the season in a parents’ meeting.
