Pre-School
Marine Kouredjian (English Teacher, Yellow Class) – Marine Kouredjian, an alumni, is proud to be returning to the AGBU MDS family as an English Teacher for the Pre-School section’s Yellow Class. She has a Multiple Subject Credential from California State University of Northridge, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology fromUniversity of California, Los Angeles.
Tina Sakalian (Assistant Teacher, Pink Class) – Tina Sakalian, a lifer of AGBU MDS, has always encompassed a passion for giving back to the Armenian community and children. She has returned to AGBU MDS as the Assistant Teacher for the Pink Class. Tina has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from California State University of Northridge.
Elementary
Tanya Mikaelian (Math Teacher, 4th and 5th Grade)–Tanya Mikaelian has joined the Elementary section as a Math teacher for the fourth and fifth grades. Joining the Los Angeles community fairly recently from Boston, Tanya has over eight years of teaching experience specializing in Math. She holds a California Clear Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential with a specialization in Elementary Mathematics and a California Clear Cross-Cultural Language and Academic Certificate (C.L.A.D.). Additionally, Tanya has a Master of Education specializing in Elementary Math Education from Boston University, as well as a Bachelor
ofScience in Elementary Education and Natural Sciences fromLesley University.
Amanda Roy (Kindergarten Teacher)– Amanda Roy has joined AGBU MDS as a Kindergarten teacher. She has received a wide range of student teaching experience in Kindergarten, Second Grade, Fourth Grade and Special Education. She has participated and volunteered in the 4-H Club, Asthma Camp Counselor, and most recently a teacher at Destination Science Camp, a summer program which was held on ourvery own campus this year! Amanda has a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from California State University, Los Angeles and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of
Pittsburgh.
DHS
TeniMarkaryan (DHS English) – TeniMarkaryan will be teaching 7th– 10thgrade English Literature, 11th grade American Literature, and Composition.She has experience in teaching English Honors to 10th to 12th graders. In 2011, she was voted Teacher of the Year and Best English Teacher at North Hollywood High School. She recently taught at Ivy Academia Entrepreneurial Charter High School in Chatsworth, where she taught Art, 11th grade American Literature, A.P. Language, and Composition.Teniobtained her Bachelor’s degree and teaching credential in English Literature from California State University, Northridge. She was a co-academy leader of the Acquiring Bilingual Leadersin Education (A.B.L.E.), which introduced students into bilingual leadership in education.
