A film and discussion Wednesday October 28
6pm, Attenborough Building Room 206
Everyday Borders(dir. Orson Nava)wasmade by Migrant Rights Network (MRN), UEL, Southall Black Sisters, RAMFEL and a number of other migrants’ rights groups.
This film screening will be an opportunity to discuss some of the aspects of the new legislation and new requirements for different professions to act as border guards when simply performing their jobs:
“Everyday Borders' sets out what is happening in our towns and communities as the business of immigration control extends beyond borders to the relationships that exist in workplaces, the times we use public services like the NHS, and as we move around our high streets and public transport systems” – Migrant Rights Network
The screening will be followed by a panel-led discussion. This will be an excellent opportunity to consider the important issues the film raises.Migrant Rights Network and colleagues have been on tour across the country showing the film and stimulating discussion.
Please join us to consider these questions in Leicester and beyond.
