Instructions for Installing and Using the SC Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Client for RSA

  1. Navigate to the following URL from a computer that is not connected to the DOE network:
  1. The page may prompt you for a PIV card. At this point you can select cancel.

  1. Select the icon on the left by single clicking the Install VMware Horizon View Client.
  1. Select the Operating System of the computer you are installing the VMware Horizon View Client on.

  1. In most cases you will be installing the VMware Horizon View Client on a Microsoft Windows PC. Select the VMware Horizon View Client for Windows.
  1. Select the 32-bit or 64-bit version of the VMware Horizon View Client and click the Download button.
  1. When prompted select the Save or Run option. This will either run the VMware Horizon View Client from the active session or save the file to a location on your pc.
  1. Select Yes to install VMware Horizon View Client when prompted. The VMware Horizon View Client Setup installer will now run. Select Next at this screen.

  1. Check the “I accept the terms in the License Agreement” and select next.

  1. Accept the default values on the Custom Setup page and select Next.

  1. Under the Default Server option, enter the following value: desktop.science.energy.gov and select Next.

  1. For the Enhanced Single Sign On page, accept the default values and select Next.
  1. Choose where you would like to create shortcuts and select Next.
  1. Click the Install button to install the client.
  1. Click the Finish button once the client has finished it’s installation.
  1. Click “Yes” to restart your PC. Please ensure to save any work that you had been working on.
  1. Double click the VMware Horizon View Client.
  1. Double click the cloud icon for desktop.science.energy.gov.

If you have cannot use your PIV Badge, follow the instructions below to create an RSA desktop connection.

  1. Enter the RSA Desktop Service name as rsadesktop.science.energy.gov. Then click on Connect.
  1. Some users will be presented with multiple desktop options. Select the one that best fits your needs.
  1. Enter your 3-char UID and UCAMS password.
  1. You will be presented a desktop for Windows 7 32-bit, just click on it. Wait for the following desktop to appear.
