RESEARCH:

Grotting Plastic Surgery – Clinical research on safety in abdominoplasty (2010-2011)

University of Tennessee College of Medicine – Chattanooga Unit, Department of Surgery; Clinical research on outcomes in trauma/ surgical critical care patients with late phase acute respiratory distress syndrome treated with glucocorticoid rescue (2005-2006); Clinical research comparing outcomes in pediatric surgical patients with appendicitis treated with appendectomy via open vs. transumbilical single trocar laparoscopic vs. multiple trocar laparoscopic approach (2005-2006); Clinical research evaluating non-covered vs. covered endovascular stents for the treatment of renovascular hypertension (2006).

University of Mississippi School of Medicine, Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Student Researcher, September 2000. Clinical research on the success of vascularized fibular grafting as a treatment for avascular necrosis of the femoral head.

University of Mississippi School of Medicine, Department of Orthopedic Research, Student Research Fellow, May 1999 – August 1999. Problems with the classic approach to pharmaceutical studies in tissue culture (contamination and logistical problems inherent in intermittent dosing) gave impetus to our search for a novel, more effective delivery route for cancer drugs.

University of Mississippi School of Medicine, Department of Orthopedic Research, Student Research Fellow, May 1999 – February 2001. This research assessed the effects of sustained delivery of the synthetic steroids Estrogen, DHEA, and Diosgenin on bone and vital and reproductive organs in hopes of finding a safe and effective alternative delivery mechanism.

University of Alabama; Department of Biological Sciences, Student Research Fellow, Molecular Genetics, February 1995 – December 1997. This study undertook to explain the pathway for plant cell shape development using leaf hair cells (trichomes).
