General information about Debate @British

Debate @British is the first debate club in English open to the public, organised by British Council starting with 2011 in partnership with ARDOR Muntenia. All our trainers are former debate champions in local, regional, national and international competitions.

The club is structured in three theoretical modules and a practice club as follows:

1.  Beginner Module (three months) – for absolute beginners in English debates; you will develop valuable skills such as analytical thinking, public speaking, team work, individual work, research, reasoning

2.  Intermediate Module (three months) – for those who graduated from the Beginner module; you will further develop all the skills acquired in the Beginner module and you will have the chance to attend debate competitions; you will also participate in mock debate competitions

3.  Advanced Module (three months) – for those who graduated from the Intermediate module; you will further develop all the skills acquired in the Beginner and Intermediate modules and you will participate in internal competitions

4.  Practice Club – for those who graduated all three theoretical modules; you will further develop your skills and, based on performance, you will be selected to participate in regional, national and international competitions

Child protection policy/Obligations for parents or legal guardian

British Council recognises that we have a fundamental duty of care towards all of the children we engage with, including a duty to protect them from abuse. We achieve this through compliance with UK child protection laws and relevant laws in each of the countries we operate in, as well as by adherence to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) 1989.

In line with our Child Protection Policy, if your child is aged between 11 and 17 we understand that you may have given them permission to travel to and from the premises unaccompanied.

We do not take any responsibility for unsupervised children on our premises outside.

□ I do not want the British Council to use my photograph(s) for the activities mentioned above.
