Transferring Resident Using PAT Slide / Assessment / Comment

1. Staff member is nominated ‘to call’
2. Ensures surface of bed & trolley are as close to same height as possible & that brakes are engaged on both bed & trolley
3. Move resident to side of bed where PAT slide and slide sheet will be placed. Leave slide sheet under resident
4. PAT slide is placed to form a bridge between bed & trolley, ensuring that one ½ of the slide is under the resident & the other half is on the receiving trolley. Residents feet are placed on PAT slide
5. Staff member stands as close as possible to bed/trolley & at the middle of the resident
6. Staff member grabs 2 ends of the slide sheet & slides sheet across PAT slide with the resident.
7. Weight is transferred from front to back leg during transfer
8. Procedure smooth and coordinated
