Job Description: Apprentice Youth Project Assistant & Tutor

Based :Broad Plain &Riverside Youth Project, Clement Street,Easton.Bristol.BS2 9ES

Centre Director: Dennis Stinchcombe MBE MA ACMI

Responsibilities: To Participate and be trained in all aspects of the BP & RYP Centres Roles.

To undertake general duties to the benefit and smooth running of the RYP

To engage with the Young People/Groups as directed by the Line Manger.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1.Preparation of the BP&RYP centre for users to participate in activities including setting up and taking down equipment and storing it safely after use.

b) Cleaning up before and after activityusage. Plus General maintenance.

c)Also to inform your Line Manager if anything is a Health and Safety issue.

2.Work daily to the Cleaning roster and maintain a satisfactory level of cleanliness as required.

3. To be fully conversant with all Health & Safety Guidelines.

Follow the Guidelines as directed.

b)Be aware of Risk Assessments

c)Record and follow COSSH guidelines.

d)Follow BP&RYP Policies and Guidelines and Procedures.

4. Help to implement storage systems

5.Assist with keeping records of any financial transactions with regard to the car park and Letts

6.General Office Administration

b)Keep Office and personal diaries up to date.

c)Use office equipment appropriately within BP&RYP Guidelines and users guides.

d)Preparation & Administration of activity promotional material.

e)Keep records and filing up to date.

f)All Confidential documentation and/or records of any clients must be secured and not left about or indeed knowledge shared outside of the staff team.

7. To attend Supervisory meetings, Staffmeetings, and any service training as required.

8.To work as a Team member in planning and coordinatingBP& RYP centre use.

9. Follow Opening Up and Locking Down Procedures ensuring that you and your colleagues cover the centre’s use which is inclusive of weekends and evening use.

Principal Accountabilities:

1.To encourage and increase Young Peoples involvement in Sports activities enabling them to learn and play sports individually and as members of teams.

2.Follow and facilitate programme delivery.

3.To Ensure that all users of the centre do so in a correct and appropriate fashion, as per the agreed use and guidelines regarding the activities that they are undertaking. You must report any concerns that you have immediately to your Line Manager.

4.To promote sporting links and partnerships with relevant local organisations.

5.To work closely with the families of the young people in the local community to encourage their involvement in activities at the centre.

6.To assist the staff team on matters of local facility development and community sports policy.

7.To assist with the preparation and administration of the centre where appropriate.

8.To work with other staff team members in planning and coordinating the centres programme to ensure the team delivers its duties and responsibilities.

9.To work within the budget constraints.

10.To take part in all training opportunities which will benefit you and the centre.

General

1.To be responsible at all times for your own safety and not to do anything which may endanger other workers, users or visitors to the centre.

2.You must work and promote compliance within the Codes of Conduct ,Regulations and Policies of the centre and its commitment to Equal Opportunities and Valuing Diversity.

3.To ensure that output and quality of work is of a high standard and complies with all current legislation and standards.

4.Any other duties linked with the role that ensures the smooth running of the centre not specified above which would not necessarily require direction.

Health & Safety Policy Statement:

Policy Statement:

The centre regards the promotion of Health & Safety in its office as being of the greatest importance. It is important that All Employees and Volunteers are also aware of and recognise the importance of this objective.

It is the Centres policy to;

1.Ensure that its offices constitute, so far as reasonably practicable a place of work , which is safe and without risk to the Health & Safety of its Employees.

2.Ensure that so far as is reasonably practicable all machinery fittings and equipment provided by the management board for the use of its employees are of such type and so installed that they do not constitute a Hazard to Health & Safety and are maintained in that condition.

3.That so far as is reasonably practicable adequate means of entry to and exit from the premises are provided and maintained in a safe condition.

4.Ensure that Safety Precautions and procedures are laid down.

5.Regard it as being of the greatest importance that employees are fully aware of and comply with the effect and provisions of precautions and procedures which have been laid down so that the Aims of this policy may be Achieved

6.Fire Exits are clearly marked. Before commencement of any session you must ensure that All Emergency Exits are not blocked, locked or that access is prevented in any way.

7.The names of those Employees who are Trained in First Aid can be obtained from your Line Manager. A First Aid Box is kept in the general Administration office and in the centres fully equipped First Aid room.

8. Details of all injuries suffered by You, Staff, Clients, or any other user during activities Etc,should be recorded in the Accident book together with any action taken . In addition for accidents where professional medical care has been required e.g. Hospital visit then a serious accident form must be completed and your Line Manager informed at the earliest opportunity.

9. You must follow all COSSH instructions.
