JOB DESCRIPTION
POST:TEAM LEADER (SENIOR STORE ASSISTANT)
RESPONSIBLE TO:STORE MANAGER
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To assist the StoreManager in the running of the Community Furniture Store at York.
On occasion you maybe required to assistat the other stores in Selby and Scarboroughand other future business premises.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Working with the Store Manager to ensure that items are attractively displayed and arranged in an orderly & safe manner and promoting high standards of customer service
- To assist the Store Manager in the management & training of volunteers and people on work experience and other placements at the Store
- To welcome and assist customers visiting or making telephone enquiries
- To assist the Store Manager to maintain excellent customer relations, including through handling of compliments and complaints
- To assist the Store Manager to manage the drivers & porters, and to help with the unloading and loading of the organisation’s vehicles
- To arrange collections and deliveries efficiently with customers and maintain accurate records of all donor and customer transactions
- To operate our stock control and gift aid systems
- To ensure that Fire Precautions, Health & Safety requirements & other procedures are complied with for both customers and staff
- To support the Store Manager in their absence, exercising operational authority as laid down in the Team Leader (Senior Store Assistant) Terms of Reference
- To help with activities to promote the Stores, including maintaining entries on Facebook
- To occasionally drive the Store’s vehicle, mainly to cover holiday leave or sickness absence
- To undertake other reasonable and appropriate duties relating to the administration and organisation of the Stores, as requested by the Trustees, Chief Officer or the Store Manager.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
ESSENTIAL / DESIRABLE (but not essential)Experience/ Knowledge / Local knowledge of York and district
Work involving face to face customer services
Experience of helping others to develop and improve their skills / Work in shop or similar sales environment
Work in a charitable organisation
Work with volunteers, trainees, job placements and people on work experience
Experience of warehouse activity
Skills/Abilities / High quality customer service skills and attitudes, including courteous and welcoming manner, both face to face and on telephone
Able to work in a team and demonstrate leadership skills
Physically able to assist with lifting of furniture in the Store
Able to work with people with a diverse range of personalities and abilities
Able to deal calmly with difficult situations
Well organised, and able to set priorities
Good written and verbal skills
Good numeracy skills
Able to use computer and/ortill / First Aid training
Customer Service Qualification
Previous experience of driving a van
Manual Handling Training
Previous Support Work experience
Team Leadership training
Equality and Diversity training
Experience of scanning, scheduling, office software, e-mail and internet.
Additional Factors / Able to work on Saturdays (9am – 3pm)

Qualifications / Full clean driving licence / Good general basic education
