Monday:
Objectives:
·  Allow students to work on mosaics
·  Circulate and help as needed.
·  Obtain 2 copies of a butterfly pattern.
·  Number 2 copies of a butterfly pattern.
·  Use pattern cutting scissors and cut one copy of the butterfly pattern into its respectful pieces.
·  Choose and evaluate appropriate glass to create a sun catcher butterfly
·  Use rubber cement to adhere pattern pieces to a glass piece that corresponds with their pattern.
·  Cut a piece of glass into the shape of a butterfly pattern piece.
·  Grind a piece of glass to fit the shape of a butterfly pattern piece
·  Copper foil and use a burnisher to line the edges of their previously ground and cut glass piece.
·  Piece together their pieces of glass to create a butterfly
·  Flux the copper foil on their butterfly
·  Solder together pieces of previously copper foiled, pieced together and fluxed glass to create a solid butterfly sun catcher
·  Properly clean up their work areas and materials
·  Follow safety procedures
·  Adhere rings to the back of their butterfly sun catcher by using pliers and solder
·  Demonstrate knowledge of safety procedures by means of scoring an 85% or above on a safety quiz.
·  Use soap and window cleaner to clean their ornament.

·  This lesson is an introduction to working with glass for beginners. It is very forgiving for students who have not yet mastered cutting and grinding glass. It provides them with extra practice and time to master and define their glass-working skills.
·  This lesson builds upon students previously learned skills of cutting and grinding glass. It introduces students to using a pattern, copper foiling and using a soldering iron. Students will also be expected to learn and follow new safety procedures that align with the new skills.

·  No Homework: Students are not permitted to take stained glass materials out of the room
