Town and Village Enhancement Grant Scheme 2016-2017

1.  This scheme aims to provide funding for projects in Formartine that are designed to improve the overall aesthetic appearance of communities, villages and towns.

2.  Grants of up to £500 are available for medium and small communities whilst up to £1,000 is available for large towns: Balmedie, Ellon, Oldmeldrum and Turriff. The scheme runs from April to March and only one grant per annum will be awarded.

3.  Matched funding is not a necessity when applying for this grant, other than contributions in kind, e.g. labour. All projects should strive to involve a wide section of the local community.

4.  A letter of full support for the project from the applicant’s Community Council should be submitted together with the application.

5.  Grants are valid for a maximum of six months following the date of approval. No funds will be provided to any project that has started or purchased goods prior to the notification of grant award. Receipts for money spent on the project must be submitted to Formartine Partnership no later than one month after completion of the project, in order to receive payment. At this time the Partnership will also provide you with a plaque which should, where appropriate, be attached to the goods purchased.

6.  Upon completion of the project, a report accompanied by pictures must also be submitted to Formartine Partnership. The Partnership retain the right to use any such material submitted (including pictures) on their own website and/or Facebook page.

7.  Applicants must demonstrate that any maintenance or upkeep issues relating to the facilities created have been fully addressed in order to ensure that the project is sustainable over its initial lifetime and beyond wherever possible.

8.  If any planters, hanging baskets or other containers are employed for displaying plants, peat free compost must be used as a planting medium. Items made using recycled materials is encouraged.

9.  Only a limited amount of funding is available for this scheme annually therefore thorough research must be conducted prior to the purchase of materials or goods to ensure that they offer ‘value for money’. The quality and cost of goods together with transport costs must all be taken into consideration prior to purchase, and wherever possible local suppliers should be used.
