Welcome and Membership Requirements: Welcome to all the guests here today. Babysitting is available down the hall. To become a member of the PTO: a person needs to attend three meetings in a school year or three consecutive meetings, such as May, August, and September; and sign-up to be on anadvisory group. To maintain your membership, you must attend three meetings in a school year. To get your PTO ID photo taken for your lanyard, please call Patti Obermeier at District Office (485-2169) to schedule an appointment time.
Secretary: The minutes for the Maymeeting were presented. They were accepted by the Executive Board over the summer. The PTO is doing its part in “Going Green.” There will not be folders this year. All documents will either be emailed or posted on the website ( ~ Community Connection ~ PTO). Please let Colleen know if you need a hard copy of the forms. There will be new nametags this year to affix to your PTO lanyard. Please bring your lanyard to the meetings. Members, see Stefanie if you need a new lanyard. Heidi Lange and Colleen Lucchetti are continuing to work on the website research. All information to go in the PTO Corner is due to Colleen by the 14th of the month.
Corresponding Secretary: Heidi Lange read the list of cards and book donations for the past months. Please see Heidi for detailed information.
Treasurer’s Report: Laura Hansenpresented the treasurer’s report. There is $148,971.43 in the checking account. The treasurer’s report was filed for audit. Building expenditures were: Bentley - $655 Pro Kids Assembly; Spencer Crossing - $350 Chemistry and Pro-Kids Assemblies; NelsonRidge - $3235.45 Climbing Wall.
Building Spotlight: Spencer Crossing and Spencer Pointe Shane Street, Spencer Crossing Principal, andKim Gray, Spencer Pointe Principal,thanked the PTO for supporting the needs of the Spencer campus. Many of the PTO funds will be used for assemblies this year, including the Mother Goose Assembly, Chemistry and Pro-Kids Assembly. The teachers really appreciate the $25 teacher allowance. Crossing will be spending funds on technology for the classroom.
Teacher Reps: Kristin Labriola introduced all of the teacher representatives.
Advisory Group Reports:
Market Day: There are 258 orders for September, with$1792 in profit. Staff from Spencer Pointe and Crossing arehelping atthe sale. The PTO is the only group to work the December sale. Any time that you can help is greatly appreciated – free babysitting!
Fundraising: 465 Golden Opportunity books were sold. A sign-up sheet to fill orders on September 29th was passed around. There will be a special gift card offering to PTO members only, orders are due to Kris Rosendale by October 1st. Gift cards will be handed out at the October meeting.
Super Session with Dr. Sass: There has been a good start to this school year. Dr. Sass has had good follow-up with several PTO members after the 75 minute Super Session at the August meeting. Bob Nelson showed a presentation on all of the construction that was completed on the Oakview/Haines campus over the summer.
Room Parents:All room parent building coordinators, turn in sign-off sheets to Cindy or Colleen.
FASG:$15,000 has been allocated for the mini-grants, $1250 per school. The 1st offering will open September 30th with applications due October 14th. They will be reviewed after the October PTO meeting. The AG had a meeting in early August to revise the requirements and help at the Jr. High level for technology.
School Supplies: 982 kits were sold this year, 90 kits were distributed as Good Neighbor Kits. There were 255 extra items also sold. Julie Kirkeeng and Cathy Yonkaitis will be handing this AG over to Ginger Watta, Jennifer Faruzzi, and Lisa Raspante.
Concessions: Over the summer, $1000 was made from working the Gin Blossoms concert and $900 was made on the 3-on-3 basketball tournament and KidsFest. We will not be selling concessions for the Halloween Parade.
Calendar: There are still calendars available for sale for $3 at the District Office. On the survey taken at Parent/Teacher conferences in November, there will be a question to see if families are interested in a purchasing a pocket calendar. We will have the results at the December meeting.
Movie Nights/Entertainment:A meeting was held with Dr. Manville regarding the various ideas for this year. More information will follow when it becomes available.
President: Everyone must fill out the District Volunteer Form for each school you volunteer at. A Driver’s License must also be left at the office when you are in the building. Membership Requirements were reviewed (see above). We are looking at having a Fall PTO Night Out, a date and location will be determined. The PTO has been offered an opportunity to earn all of the profits from the Elite Cheerleading Clinic, in return for advertising for it. Stefanie will find out more details.
Agenda: Please contact Stefanie Zuraitisthe Monday prior to the meeting if you need to be put on the agenda for the next meeting. At 10:49 A.M. a motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Julie Kirkeeng and seconded by Carrie Singleton.
