Dear Scholarship Applicant:
The Monroe County Farm Bureau Foundation was established in 1995 by the Monroe County Farm Bureau. The Monroe County Farm Bureau Foundation is a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation organized to promote agriculture in MonroeCounty. Many Farm Bureau members, friends, local organizations and businesses have made substantial contributions to the Foundation. A total of forty-four scholarships, ranging from $100.00 the first years to $1,000.00 the past years, have been awarded to Monroe County high school seniors furthering their education in the agriculture field.
To be eligible for consideration, an applicant must:
- Be a high school senior graduating in May of 2014
- Be a member or child of a member of the Monroe County Farm Bureau since at least January 1, 2013
- Be accepted or plan to enroll as a full-time student in a post-secondary school in an agriculture curriculum
- Exhibit potential for successful completion of course of study, GPA, hours completed
- Be a resident of Monroe County
Consideration will be given to the following criteria in the selection of a scholarship recipient:
- Scholastic achievement
- Participation in agriculture activities
- Demonstrated leadership in school and community activities
In the event the Foundation Board would like more information regarding the scholarship applicants, a personal interview may be scheduled. The amount and number of scholarships awarded will depend upon the number and quality of applications received. All applications must be typed.
Please note that the award is contingent upon your enrollment and completion of each semester of your first year of college as stated on your application. If you are selected as a recipient of this scholarship, a transcript or report card must be submitted to the Monroe County Farm Bureau office upon completion of each semester during your first year of college. After receiving confirmation of your successful completion of each semester, a check for one-half of the scholarship proceeds will be mailed directly to you.
Scholarship winners will be announced at the respective high school awards night in May.
