Abolitionist Times

Objective: Each student may work with a partner to create an (l to 2 pages) abolitionist newspaper about the opposition to slavery in the United States prior to the Civil War.

Requirements:

Newspapers should have a title: For example, The Abolitionist Times.

Newspaper should have an accurate date (1850s) before the Civil War (1861).

Newspaper is typed using varying font size with single line spacing.

Newspaper is in column format.

The newspaper includes at least 2 articles that are a minimum of 4 paragraphs in length.

Each article has a title and a by line (your name).

Each article should also include a picture, a graph, or a drawingwith acitation* and acaption.

* Citation should include the website you found the image at. (photo courtesy of www. )

Your newspaper needs an editorial section: in which you have at least two of the following: a letter to the editor (body of letter should be at least a paragraph), an anti-slavery political cartoon with citation and a caption, or an editorial (at least a paragraph in length).

A Help Wanted Section that lists at least 2 jobs available include job title, job location, experience/skills needed, hours expected to work, and pay
