Welcome to TheatreArts!
Toni Aybar –
3rd Period Theatre Arts
I am so excited to welcome you to Theatre Arts! My name is Toni Aybar and this is my 8th year at Brighten and my 2nd year teaching Middle School Theatre Arts. In this class, we will be building life skills such as creativity, confidence, problem-solving, focus, communication and perseverance in fun and innovative ways as we explore the roles and technical aspects of theatre, acting, and improv. The class moves pretty quickly and we learn in a variety of different ways. This is a participation/performance-based class, so our first goal as a class will be to establish our “theatre family” within our classroom so we can build relationships and create a safe environment for risk-taking.
Classroom participation and behavior will be communicated in your student’s agenda. They will either get a point or an “x” in these categories every day:
1 –Student is on-time and prepared for class.
2 – Student completes assigned classroom activities.
3 – Student exhibits on-task classroom behavior (following norms, no excessive talking, respectful, etc.)
Please check in with your students on their points earned daily. They will receive points in all classes and will reflect on earned points during Crew every Friday. If a student is missing points excessively in Theatre Arts, I’ll be sure to contact you so we can problem solve and help him or her be successful!
There are a few supplies that each student will need to have for this class, as well as a wish list of supplies/items for some of our projects. I’ve included them below. Once it is up and running, I will communicate assignments and projects via Remind as well as on the website so you will always know what is going on in class, so please sign up for that when the information comes home. Please feel free to contact me any time with any questions or concerns.
Thank you so much for sharing your student with me. I’m looking forward for a fun and productive semester!
