Save the Date: Virtual College Week April 4-6, 2017 FloridaShines, Florida’s student hub of innovative educational services, is hosting Virtual College Week April 4-6, 2017. Representatives from the Florida College System, State University System, Florida Department of Education and others will showcase information to Florida high school juniors and seniors, parents and school counselors. This no cost, live event will feature presentations from experts in the areas of college preparation, admissions, financial aid and more. Prior to the day of the presentations, FloridaShines will provide online resources to prepare students with additional materials. After the live events, FloridaShines will showcase presentation recordings and follow-up information to connect students and parents with their institutions of interest. Like many pigment names, this one still retains an exotic ring long after settling into English. Cinnabar refers to a mineral source of red pigment, the mineral itself, or the deep red color it produces. The trail of its origin goes cold before French, Latin, and Greek; it has an Arabic cognate, and one dictionary notes that it is of "oriental" origin.

1999 - Two Libyans suspected of bombing a Pan Am jet in 1988 were handed over so they could be flown to the Netherlands for trial. 270 people were killed in the bombing.
1999 - In Laramie, WY, Russell Henderson pled guilty to kidnapping and felony murder in the death of Matthew Shepard.
2004 - Near Mexico City's international airport, lightning struck the jet Mexican President Vicente Fox was on.
2009 - North Korea launched the Kwangmyongsong-2 rocket, prompting an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council.
