Job Title: Contracts Engineer
Reports To: Contracts Manager
Roll Statement:
To ensure that the specific quotations/orders allocated to me are processed in such a manner as to allow the achievement of maximum profitability and customer satisfaction.
Dimensions:
The preparation/processing of quotations/orders up to the value of £1,000,000.
Decision Making:
Without Reference: The necessity for and the method of obtaining further information relating to a quotation or order.
The organisation of day to day work load.
Arrangements for site surveys.
Consultation with technical department on all products or applications.
The use of sub-contract labour – suppliers of bought out items and site equipment from approved lists.
With Reference: An inability to meet a set deadline.
Before accepting any terms or conditions which conflict with the Redirack standards.
The incurrence or acceptance of any non-chargeable costs.
The issue of F.O.C. works orders.
If site labour/equipment costs appear likely to exceed the job budget.
If bought out items appear likely to exceed the job budget.
Any matter which may jeopardise the despatch, site start or completion date, invoicing or payment of contract.
The use of subcontract labour or suppliers not on the approved list.
Pass for payment invoices from sub-contract labour/suppliers for services/goods received.
To postpone delivery or stop work on site.
Compliance of sub-contracts work quality be this site labour or bought out items.
Any complaint from the customer regarding Redirack’s performance.
All matters where successful negotiation cannot be achieved with other Redirack personnel.
Main Tasks:
To obtain a correct understanding of the client’s requirements.
To prepare the company’s quotation response in accordance with the established procedures for investigation, design, costing and presentation.
To ensure that the documentation received for orders/enquiries is sufficiently informative/detailed to allow the efficient processing of the work.
To process orders in accordance with the established procedures for materials, bought out items, labour and site equipment.
To maintain an accurate and complete file record of all calculations, material lists, costings, drawings, correspondence and purchase orders.
To attend pre-quote/pre-installation surveys/meetings.
To prepare full and accurate instructions for production control.
To prepare full and accurate manufacturing drawings/details for production control/factory personnel.
To prepare full and accurate installation drawings/details for the construction personnel.
Source and procure all bought out/non-stock items relevant to the contract in a cost effective manner.
To source and procure the necessary site equipment to enable installation to be carried out in a safe and efficient manner.
To programme work load to ensure that all resources arrive on site as scheduled, and thereby allow the installation to be completed as cost effectively as possible.
To liaise with the client regarding deliveries of materials and the installation programme.
Seek client’s agreement on payment of down time/additional works which is directly attributable to the customer.
To ensure the company does not incur unnecessary loss of contribution due to non-chargable costs.
To assist with the training of sales/contracts personnel.

To ensure orders are completed within budget, on time and to the satisfaction of the client.
Quotations & Tenders
To ensure that drawings prepared, material take-off and costings are completed neatly, accurately and on time.
Man Specification:
Essential: Computer literate
Numerate (costing take-offs, loading etc) & analytical
Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Solidworks
Ability to communicate clearly at all levels
Driving Licence
Desirable: 2/3 years previous experience in similar position
Fit & Healthy
Formal engineering qualifications
