Attainment and progress at end of KS1 July 2016

ATTAINMENT

This year we have no levels to report on and no average point scores. Children were judged on their attainment in Reading, Writing, Maths and Science. There were four judgements that could be made for reading, writing and mathematics.:

Working at Pre Key Stage Foundation Skills (PKF)

Working towards the expected standard (WTS)

Working at the expected standard (EXS)

Working at greater depth within the expected standard. (GDS)

In science, teachers had to judge if a child had met the standard or was working at the expected standard.

Our results at the end of Key Stage One looked like this:

Reading / Maths / Writing
PKF / 6% (1 child) / 0% / 6% (1 child)
WTS / 24% (4 children) / 30% (5 children) / 30% (5 children)
EXS / 18% (3 children) / 47% (8 children) / 41% (7 children)
GDS / 52.9% (9 children) / 23% (4 children) / 23.5% (4 children)
Percentage of children working at the expected standard or at greater depth: / 70.6% / 70.6% / 64.7%
Percentage of children achieving expected level in Reading, Writing and Maths / 58.8%

It should be noted that one child who joined our school in the summer term was judged to be working towards the standard in all three subjects.

In Science:

3 children did not meet the expected standard – 18%

14 children did meet the standard – 72%

Attainment by gender:

Reading / Writing / Maths
No of Boys / No of Girls / No of Boys / No of Girls / No of Boys / No of Girls
PKF / 1 / 0 / 1 / 0 / 0 / 0
WTS / 2 / 2 / 2 / 3 / 1 / 4
EXS / 0 / 3 / 4 / 3 / 6 / 3
GDS / 5 / 4 / 1 / 3 / 1 / 2
No working at expected standard or at greater depth within the standard. / 5 / 7 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 5

Girls performed slightly better than boys in reading and writing, but boys performed better in maths. However, there are no major differences.

PROGRESS:

Reading

88% of children made good or very good progress across KS1. 2 children did not meet the target set for them at the end of Y1

Writing

88% of children made good or very good progress across KS1. 2 children did not meet the target set for them at the end of Y1

Mathematics

88% of children made good or very good progress across KS1. 2 children did not meet the target set for them at the end of Y1

In summary, progress was good as most children made good or very good progress.

Pupil Premium progress

The impact of the PPG for 2015/16 was that pupils in receipt of extra support through pupil premium interventions actually performed better than their peers.

Reading / Writing / Maths
Overall % of disadvantaged pupils reaching the expected standard or working at depth within the expected standard at the end of KS1* / 80% / 80% / 80%
Overall % of children not in receipt of PPG reaching the expected standard or working at depth within the expected standard at the end of KS1 / 64% / 64% / 73%
Overall % all pupils (including the child who joined in the summer – see below) / 71% / 64% / 70%

*Not included in these figures is one disadvantaged pupil who joined our school in the summer term in Y2.
