Bisley Range Days 2017 – Booking form & instructions

BASC arranges range days at the British Sporting Rifle Club for BASC members to zero and practice. Eligibility is as follows;

  • You must be a member of BASC.
  • You must hold a current valid firearm certificate for the firearms you wish to use.
  • You must have a Safe Shooter Certification (SSC) card†

Note 1 – New booking policy

Should the day be fully booked we will add names to a waiting list in case of cancellations. Any cancellations must be notified to us at least 7 days before a range day in order that those on the waiting list can be notified in good time. No refunds will be provided where cancellations are made with less than 7 days’ notice.

Note 2 – Prohibition from possession of firearms

It is an offence for a person who is prohibited by Section 21 of the Firearms Act 1968 to have a firearm or ammunition in his/her possession at any time during their prohibition.

This Section applies to any person who has been sentenced to ‘custody for life’, ‘preventive detention’, ‘imprisonment’, ‘corrective training’ or to ‘youth custody’ or ‘detention in a young offender’s institution’ for three months or more. The following applies;

  • A person sentenced to 3 years or more is prohibited for life.
  • A person sentenced to a period between 3 months and 3 years is prohibited for 5 years from the date of release.
  • Anyone prohibited by Article 63 of the Firearms (Northern Ireland) Order 2004 shall be deemed to be prohibited within England, Wales and Scotland.
  • Suspended sentences of 3 months or more also prohibit the possession of firearms for 5 years. This applies retrospectively to such sentences awarded on or after the 12th July 2009.

Notes to above

  1. Section 21 applies also to firearms held as a “curiosity or ornament” (i.e. antiques)
  1. It is an offence for a person to transfer, let, hire, or lend a firearm or ammunition to someone whom he knows or has reasonable grounds for believing to be a prohibited person.
