Butterworth News - August 2017

Mission: The Butterworth community will provide a quality education in a safe environment which promotes success and encourages lifelong learning.

From the Principal

Welcome back to school! I’d like to thank the Butterworth families, students, and staff for the warm welcome. My name is Julie Reed and I am the principal this year. I am new to this role at Butterworth but I have been a teacher in the district for 18 years. I bring with me my passion for kids, learning, and teaching. I am learning a lot in my new role and working on remembering names and connecting them to faces. I look forward to partnering with you and your child’s teacher to ensure that all of our students have a successful, challenging, and positive experiences at school.

PTA News

The Butterworth PTA would like to invite you to our meetings. They will be held the third Thursday of each month at 6:00. The first meeting will be September 21st at 6:00 p.m. in the gym.. We welcome all parents and families to get involved with PTA and to support our students and teachers. Membership is only $6.00 per person or $10.00 for two. One easy way to support PTA is to collect Box Tops and send them to school. A Box Tops contest is coming soon...

Challenge 5

The Moline-Coal Valley School District is partnering with the United Way in challenging all students to miss 5 or less days of school this year. Attendance is a key predictor of student success, now and in the future. To encourage good attendance we started the day on Wednesday 8/30 with a “High 5” as kids came into school.

Early Dismissal - On Wednesday, September 13th we will dismiss at 10:55 and on Friday, September 29th we will dismiss at 1:30.

Picture Day is scheduled for Monday, September 18th.

Reminders

●Dismissal time is at 2:40 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday and at 1:30 on Wednesday.

●If your child will be late to school, please call the office (743-1604) before 8:30 and let us know the reason and if your child will need a school lunch.
