Former TRAN Members,
At the recent Texas Rehabilitation Association’s Annual Conference in Galveston, the TRANsition Committee voted overwhelmingly to transfer TRAN’s resources to TRA, the state chapter of the National Rehabilitation Association. This is the final step of a two-step process that began this past December, when the TRAN Board voted to dissolve TRAN and begin considering other organizations with which to merge.
TRAN’s decision to merge with TRA/NRA, enables the rehabilitation community in Texas to move forward together under one organization devoted to:
- Promoting the profession of rehabilitation
- Enhancing opportunities for Texans with disabilities
- Stimulating a rehabilitation environment
- Promoting quality rehabilitation services
TRA therefore, in consultation with TRAN leadership, has implemented the following:
To honor the Texas RehabACTion Network organization and its individual members’ 20 years of dedicated public vocational rehabilitation service to Texans with disabilities, the 2016 Texas Rehabilitation Association’s Executive Board unanimously passed this resolution:
We at TRA welcome all the former members of TRAN to join NRA/TRA,the most established and longest-serving national, state and regional professional organization devoted to promoting ethical and state of the art practice in rehabilitation, with the goal of the personal and economic independence of persons with disabilities. In the past, TRAN and TRAhad separately and actively worked towards these same goals. We at TRA welcome your enthusiasm and dedication into our organization. By joining and participating in NRA/TRA, you will be part of bringing a strong and vibrant public presence into TRA. We ask that you become an active member of TRA so that together we can make Texas a shining example of public and private VR, united.
In recognition of the funds that TRA anticipates receiving from TRAN as a result of their dissolution, TRA will provide an introductory, one-year NRA membership for those listed on the last TRAN membership list (received by TRA on 2/10/16).
This introductory one-year membership is offered for a limited time only. By joining NRA, you automatically become a member of TRA.In order to take advantage of this no-cost introductory membership, you will need to complete and return the attached NRA application for membership by postmark date of June 16, 2017.
