Wedding Ceremonies Performed by Judicial Officers

The following information is provided to assist you in locating a judicial officer to perform your wedding ceremony. Pursuant to Chief Justice Directive 98-06, Judicial Officers may perform weddings during normal court business hours so long as it does not interfere with, nor delay any judicial duties.

Before you contact one of the judicial officers’ staff to perform your ceremony, you must have your marriage license. If you do not already have your marriage license, please contact the Clerk and Recorder’s office for Jefferson County. The Clerk and Recorder is located at, 100 Jefferson County Parkway, Golden, CO 80401, Suite 2530. The Clerk and Recorder’s phone number is 303-271-8121. You may obtain a marriage license during the hours of 7:30 am-5:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

There are several judicial officers who are willing to perform wedding ceremonies during regular business hours. Additionally, there are judicial officers who are willing to perform weddings on weekends or after regular business hours.

Judicial officers will perform marriage ceremonies Monday through Friday during their lunch hours and after regular business hours. For a noon wedding, report to the magistrate clerks’ lobby on the second floor at 11:45 am and check in with one of the clerks. For 5:00 pm weddings, check in with the staff for Courtroom 1B at 4:30 pm. The small claims court magistrates will perform weddings Monday through Thursday evenings at 6:00 pm. Wedding parties should report to the atrium at 5:45 pm.

Judicial officers charge a fee of $40.00 for performing these ceremonies. Payment must be in cash and exact change is appreciated.
