· To examine the non-technical sides of a patent application.
· Conduct preliminary examinations of applications in line with the agreed quality criteria within 15 days of receipt of message.
· Communicate objections clearly with an appropriate explanation and forward it to the relevant technical examiner who will then carry out the search.
· Record data on the relevant systems correctly so they are ready to be picked for publication.
· Ensure that any cases that are sent for publication or grant meet statutory and procedural requirements.
· Process general amendments to applications within 5 working days of receipt.
· Record and process all acceleration data accurately in line with our ministerial targets.
· Deal with customers that apply for a patent with the office, whether that be over the phone, by email or face to face in meetings.
