TPM RECIPIENTS
Informational Data Notice
(1) PLACENAME Modifications, (2) Mexico Reminder

The following describes planned updates to the Telcordia® TPM™ Data Source that is produced by Telcordia® Routing Administration (TRA). Please call TRA on 866-NPA-NXXS (i.e. 866-672-6997) or (732) 699-6700 if you have any questions, comments, or concerns regarding this notice. This notice is being sent to the party receiving the physical product (e.g. data transmission, CD) since that is often our only confirmed contact in your company. Please share this notice with those in your company that may be interested or may need to know. ______

** There are no file specification changes associated with this notice **

** This notice is being provided to provide background to above average change activity **

(1) PLACENAME updates (3/15/07 TPM)

To provide increased data consistency and accuracy regarding the ten character PLACENAME appearing in the TPM, updates to the PLACENAME values have occurred over the past several months. This effort has essentially culminated with the changes appearing the 3/15/07 TPM and, as a result, changes in the 3/15/07 TPM involve a greaternumber of records “changed” (i.e. activity records) than in past months.

Please note the following:

  • The vast majority of modifications relate to the “spelling” of the PLACENAME, generally in relation to how the PLACENAME has been “abbreviated”, and are NOT changes to the PLACENAME (locale) perse, nor to Rate Centers, nor to V&H data. Often the change involves one or a few characters in the spelling of the PLACENAME being modified.
  • The majority of cases apply to the state of California.
  • Changes are being made for (1) consistency between values in the PLACENAME field and similar fields/values in other TRA products (e.g. LERG Routing Guide), and(2) consistency in identifying a given PLACENAME within the TPM itself.
  • In a small number of cases the pre-existing PLACENAME was ultimately determined to be inaccurate, and was corrected accordingly by the service provider.

TRA has been working with the service providers in the industry to provide consistency and accuracy across various data elements in its products. These efforts ultimately benefit data providers, as well as TPM and other TRA product users.

Although theremay be isolated future updates due to this PLACENAMEeffort, the extent of any future changes shouldbe within the bounds of normal activity. If you have any questions please call the TRA Customer Care Center on 800-NPA-NXXS, or 732-699-6700.

(2) Reminder – Mexican Records (4/15/07 TPM)

Starting with the 10/15/06 TPM (issued 9/06) anINTLMX.DATfile has been provided with the TPM to address a modification in Mexican numbering and to expand upon the Mexican data in theTPM. As mentioned in notices supporting that change, and to serve as a reminder now, the 4/15/07 TPM (Issued 3/07) will be the last TPM in which Mexico data will appear under the old format (i.e. as “dummy” NPA 052) in the TPM.DAT file. Hopefully this parallel period, whereby both old and new formats have been provided, has assisted impacted customers in handling the transition. The new format is needed to permit a proper reflection of the Mexican numbering changes which could no longer be supported by forcing the data into a “dummy” NPA NXX format. Mexican data will appear in the TPM.DAT file, in the 4/15/07 TPM, with a CHG CODE of “D”, and will no longer appear in this file starting the following month.

If you have any questions regarding the INTLMX file, or have any need for or questions about additional non-North American Numbering Plan (i.e. Global) numbering such as that provided for Mexico, please call the TRA Customer Care Center on 800-NPA-NXXS, or 732-699-6700 and ask about TRA’s Global Dialing Data Solution product.
