October2009

August 20that Silver Dollar Music Park Reba Smith received the first annual Labor of Love award. The Pear Tree, Independence, Va Patrick O’Neal custom designed the pin for C.A.R.E.S. Reba began volunteering with CARES in 1994. She was always among the first to arrive and prepare for the thrift store opening and ran the cash registers for many years. Over the years she repaired (along with her husband Dwayne) the jewelry and took great pride in finding that perfect piece for customers. It was only fitting that the Reba received a piece of jewelry. Congratulations to Reba. We each appreciate the many hours and years of your devotion as a volunteer to C.A.R.E.S.

Let’s show the town who we are!!

Do you know there are still people of Sparta that do not know of C.A.R.E.S.

Grant will drive the truck in the Christmas Parade – the rest of us can hand our brochures and coupons to our many neighbors lining the streets. Help me hand out flyers during the Christmas Parade November 28th at 2PM. Please let Vickie know if you can help.

Heater Program CARES will again purchase EdenPure (1000 model heating 1000 sq feet) heaters to assist our neighbors with an efficient way to help heat their homes. This program is income based available for AlleghanyCounty residents only.

Volunteers may purchase the same heater for the price CARES is able to obtain from the company ($300). Please advise Vickie as soon as possible if you are interested.
