1.5   QUALITY ASSURANCE

1.5.1   Manufacturer Qualifications: Minimum 5 year experience harvesting and milling forest products.

1.5.2   Installer Qualifications: Minimum 2 year experience installing similar products.

1.5.3   Certified Wood: Operations shall be FSC and PEFC Chain of Custody certified.

1.5.3.1   TFP #: FSC C005906.

1.5.3.2   TFP #: PEFC/26-31-27.

** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Include a mock-up if the project size and/or quality warrant taking such a precaution. The following is one example of how a mock-up on a large project might be specified. 1.5.4   Mock-Up: Provide a mock-up for evaluation of surface preparation techniques and application workmanship.

1.5.4.1   Finish areas designated by Architect.

1.5.4.2   Do not proceed with remaining work until workmanship is approved by Architect.

1.5.4.3   Refinish mock-up area as required to produce acceptable work.

1.6   PRE-INSTALLATION MEETINGS

1.6.1   Convene minimum two weeks prior to starting work of this section.

1.7   DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

1.7.1   Deliver and store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging bearing the brand name and manufacturer's identification until ready for installation.

1.7.2   Handling: Handle materials to avoid damage.

1.8   PROJECT CONDITIONS

1.8.1   Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's recommended limits.

1.9   SEQUENCING

1.9.1   Ensure that products of this section are supplied to affected trades in time to prevent interruption of construction progress.

3 EXECUTION

3.1   EXAMINATION

3.1.1   Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.

3.1.2   If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.

3.2   PREPARATION

3.2.1   Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.

3.2.2   Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.

3.3   INSTALLATION

3.3.1   Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

3.3.2   Products shall have all butt and scarf joints caulked with a quality, exterior rated, flexible caulk prior to paint application. All non-trim/fascia abutments shall be caulked and sealed with the same exterior grade caulk.

3.3.3   Ends exposed due to post-manufacturing field cuts shall be sealed with a premium, 100% acrylic primer, to ensure that no fiber is left exposed to the elements.

3.3.4   Use only corrosion resistant fasteners. Acceptable are stainless steel or hot-dipped galvanized nails; minimum size - 7 penny.
