(Natural Wonders of the World)

(June 2011)

Unit Statement: There are many places on the Earth which inspire awe and wonder for those who visit them. In this unit the student search and findearthly wonders, tell how the wonders may have been formed, and in a personnel view give an expression of aesthetic appreciation.

Essential Outcomes: (assessed for mastery)

  1. The Student Will name seven natural wonders of the world and describe each one telling why it is considered a wonder.
  1. TSW analyze at least four natural wonders and describe the processes which formed them.
  1. TSW create a visual presentation of the “world records” for points on the earth that have a special traits of that point such as highest , hottest, deepest, lowest, driest, darkest, coldest, wettest, greatest flow of water, largest waterfall, highest water fall, deepest point in the ocean.
  1. TSW compile a list of national parks and natural points of interest in the host country.
  1. TSW discuss the benefit of a country setting aside natural parks.

Introduced and Practiced Outcomes:

  1. TheStudentWill locate each of the seven natural wonders of the world, record the latitude and longitude of each and copy three pictures of each. (Google Earth is a good source)

  1. Develop the itinerary for a trip to one of the wonders of the world.
  2. Give a personnel view of the seven wonders of the world.
  3. Plan a trip to view a natural wonder or point of interest in the host country.
  4. Present a power point presentation of pictures and details of the seven natural wonders of the world
  5. Give a personnel view of the seven wonders of the world.
