Mission Statement
The Disabled Student Programs and Services’ primary objective is to facilitate the integration of students with disabilities into all college programs and activities.
Classroom Accessibility
All programs at SMC are accessible; however, some locations on campus are not accessible to students with specific disability related needs. For further information, please refer tothe current Schedule of Classes, General Information, Classroom Accessibility Advisory.

Parking
The display of a handicap parking placard anda current Santa MonicaCollegeparking decal entitles you to park in any student or staff parking space. Accessible shuttle service is available from Satellite campuses. Plan ahead; parking is limited for all.

Dear Prospective Student,
Thank you for considering Santa MonicaCollege. This brochure contains information regarding the registration and enrollment process, financial aid, student services, and parking.
As a first-time college student, we understand that the application and enrollment process can be overwhelming and confusing. In order to facilitate your registration process, please be sure to read and carefully follow the steps enclosed in this brochure. We hope it will answer many of your questions and ensure a smooth start for your college career.
Due to the statewide budget crisis it is especially critical to begin planning your schedule for Winter and Spring sessions as soon as possible. Thank you for choosing Santa MonicaCollege and we look forward to working with you.

#1 STEPS BEFORE YOU SIGN
UP FOR CLASSES – A CHECKLIST
If you are certain that you wish to attend Santa MonicaCollege, please follow this checklist carefully.
1. FileSanta MonicaCollege application at SMC website, . For assistance you may visit the WelcomeCenter next to the cafeteria.
2. After the SMC application is completed, you will be assigned an SMC student ID number. SMC ID #______
3. You MUST complete the on-line orientation at before you are allowed to proceed with enrollment.
4. After completing theon-line orientation you may check your enrollment date. That is the date you sign up for classes; it is not the date of your counseling appointment. To find out your enrollment date you must

• Click on Semester/Session for date/time
5. Complete the English/Math placement test in Liberal Arts Building, Room 109. No appt necessary. Bring your SMC ID number and picture I.D. with you. Preparation for the mathassessment is strongly recommended. Sample tests can be found at:
6. Review the schedule of classes carefully to see what classes you may be interested in taking. The schedule is available on-line at or may be purchased in the bookstore.
7. Make an appointment with a DisabledStudentCenter counselor either in person (SSC 101A) or by calling (310)434-4265.
8.Be sure to bringmedical information with a diagnosis or ahigh school IEP to verify your disability and your placement scores to your first appointment with a DSPS counselor.
9. If you are a client of the Department of Rehabilitation, bring your IPE to your counseling appointment.
10. Discuss priority enrollment date with your SMC counselor______
Since classes fill up quickly, be sure to sign up for classes on your priority date.
11. Complete FAFSA application and/or fee waiver-Board of Governor’s Grant (BOGG) and return to Financial Aid office in AdministrationBuilding. Bring income verification to financial aid office.
12. Contact EOPS at (310) 434-4268 if you are eligible for financial aid or BOGG.
13. If necessary, make another appointment with your DisabledStudentCenter counselor for additional assistance in finalizing your
schedule prior to signing up for classes.
HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS: If you will still be in high school while attending SMC, you need to request information regarding your enrollment process.
#2 SIGN UP FOR YOURCLASSES

1. Enroll for classes by phone at (310) 434-4333 or through the SMC website

password (your six digit birth date)
•SelectSemester, click Add a Class
2. To view and pay your fees, click on Fee Assessment. You may pay your fees online or in person at the Bursar’s Office. If you wish to postpone your fee payment, be sure to click, “Postpone My Fees” by the suggested deadline. Be aware of deadlines. If you don’t pay or postpone your fees you will be dropped from all your classes.
3. After paying for classes, obtain an SMC student ID card at Station “D”
4. Be sure to check dates and deadlines for a refund as well as deadlines to drop a class. It is critical to pay attention to deadlines to avoid “W”s on your transcript and poor grades. Deadlines are posted in the Schedule of Classes and also on-line at
5. Buy your books at the Bookstore or online at DR clients must follow specific guidelines.
6. It is your responsibility to request accommodations in a timely manner each sessionwith your DSPS counselor or LD Specialist. As soon as your schedule is finalized, make an appointment with your DSPS counseloror LD Specialist to discuss and/or arrange for accommodations.
