Digital Lesson for Computer Lab

Six Weeks: Third Six Weeks / Grade Level : 1
Objectives for Six Weeks :
Students will explore and create using alphabetic, number, punctuation and symbol keys on keyboard and use them for creation of products into digital resources.
Students will listen to online resources and develop listening comprehension and create digital resources from the listening comprehension.
Students will demonstrate the opening, creating, and saving to a network folder work that has been designed in computer lab.
Students will use online resources to develop ideas about different Holiday customs around the world. Students will produce digital products that show the ideas developed. / TEKS Addressed: (1) Creativity and innovation. The student uses creative thinking and innovative processes to construct knowledge and develop digital products. The student is expected to:
(A) apply prior knowledge to develop new ideas, products, and processes;
(B) create original products using a variety of resources;
(C) explore virtual environments, simulations, models, and programming languages to enhance learning;
(D) create and execute steps to accomplish a task;
(6) Technology operations and concepts. The student demonstrates knowledge and appropriate use of technology systems, concepts, and operations. The student is expected to:
(A) use appropriate terminology regarding basic hardware, software
applications, programs, networking, virtual environments, and emerging technologies;
(B) use appropriate digital tools and resources for storage, access, file
management, collaboration, and designing solutions to problems;
(C) perform basic software application functions, including opening an
application and creating, modifying, printing, and saving files;
(D) use a variety of input, output, and storage devices;
(E) use proper keyboarding techniques such as ergonomically correct hand and body positions appropriate for Kindergarten-Grade 2 learning;
(F) demonstrate keyboarding techniques for operating the alphabetic, numeric, punctuation, and symbol keys appropriate for Kindergarten-Grade 2 learning;
(3) Research and information fluency. The student acquires and evaluates digital content. The student is expected to:
(A) use search strategies to access information to guide inquiry;
(B) use research skills to build a knowledge base regarding a topic, task, or assignment; and

1st week / Using Tumblebook Online Resource: Student will click on “TumbleTV” and Choose the “ 1st Grade Playlist #2”. Students will listen for detail in stories.
Students will choose one character from the list of books listen to and will draw the character of choice in Kid Pix’s, Tux Paint, or Microsoft Paint. They will choose words that describe the character from their book. Students will save to network Folder.
2nd week / Students will use Kid Pix’s, Tux Paint, or Microsoft Paint to draw things that they are thankful for and will write with text box one sentence what they are thankful for this Thanksgiving.
Students can explore the daily life of the early settlers and investigate the online resource to discover facts about Thanksgiving.

Draw something that they have learned about Thanksgiving and write on thing about Thanksgiving in Word, adding Clip art. Save to network folder.
3rd week / Word Work: Dolch Word Practice

Open “Wordle” and have students write as many Dolch words as they can remember to practice.
4th week / Assign Lessons in Learning.com for Grouping and Labeling , Attributes and Linking:
Students will open up “Kidspiration” and work with putting their name in the main idea circle. Have students practice linking 5 things that they like from the symbol palette. Save to network folder.
5th week / Comparing Online resources for books , video on Little Red Hen
Watch the following resources. Discuss how literature can be viewed in different formats.

Students will read the rebus story of the Little Red Hen in Enchanted Learning.
Using the 4th weeks Learning.com lessons. Students can open up Kidspiration” . Click on the pictute to see how to build a map around the Little Red Hen Story.
Students will write in the middle idea: Little Red Hen.
Students will write words that relate to the story : hen, wheat, etc. If students have the skills have them write a sentence about the word. Save to network file.
6th week / Students will discover and develop ideas about Customs around the world.
