The meetings will conclude Sunday following an informal morning brunch.

The Great Basin Environmental Education Center (hereafter referred to as GBEEC, or the camp) is located in Ephraim Canyon, Manti-La Sal National Forest, at an elevation of 8600 feet. It is located approximately 10 miles ESE of Ephraim accessed via an improved gravel road. Ephraim Canyon is an access road toSkyline Drive, which winds for over 100 miles along the very top of the Wasatch Plateau providing access to forested mountains, alpine meadows and numerous lakes, streams and camping areas. At elevations ranging from about 9,000 to 11,000 feet above sea level, it is one of the highest roads in America. Views of the mountain basins and surrounding valleys are marvelous.

The eight buildings of the GBEEC were originally used as a Forest Service Experimental Station. They are now managed jointly by the Forest Service and Snow College. There are sleeping quarters in the buildings for approximately 40 people. Three of the buildings have bunk beds with mattresses. If you plan on staying at camp please bring your own sleeping bags, pillows, blankets, toiletries, etc. One of the buildings will serve as a center for meals and meetings for presentations. Reservations for staying in the camp quarters will be made on a first requested-first reserved basis. Parking spaces will be assigned at camp upon checking in. Unfortunately, RV facilities will not be available at camp. However, there are RV facilities, motels, bed and breakfasts, and eating establishments available in or near Ephraim.

The basic registration fee is $49. (Registration fees received after 10 June 2006 will be $59). The camp fee for those sleeping at GBEEC is $25 per person per night. There is no camp fee for attendees who wish to lodge elsewhere. Cost for meals is $48 per person, which includes Friday lunch and evening barbeque, Saturday breakfast, lunch, and break time snacks, and Sunday morning brunch. The total package cost [registration, lodging, and meals (excluding banquet)] will be $147.

The deadline for pre-registration is 10 June 2006. However, the deadline for the “Call for Papers” is 15 April 2006. The registration acknowledgement, which will include the program, maps, and local lodging information, will be sent the last week of June.

Collecting permits for insects are not required in the Manti-LaSal National Forest as long as the collecting is for personal study and not for commercial purposes.

We hope to see you there!
