arthrocleanse Addendum 4

Office Staff Training in Procedure Support and Aseptic Technique

Proctored physician education and training will generally take place in an office environment where nursing staff is not trained and experienced in procedure support and aseptic technique. The nursing staff support roles and familiarity with proper aseptic technique are critical and necessary to the successful implementation of the arthrocleanse procedure and method into the physicians’ practice. Physician and nursing staff must act as a finely tuned machine and that can only be achieved through training and practice.

Procedure room selection and any special requirements/ preparation, (removal of carpeting, sink installation, procedure table/ procedure chair acquisition) must be completed prior to scheduling nursing staff training. It is also necessary to acquire, have delivered and installed all arthrocleanse equipment and supplies in anticipation of nursing personnel training.

Prior to the solo performance of actual patient arthrocleanse procedures in your office/ clinic environment, nursing staff proficiency in procedure and patient support must be demonstrated in the presence of a skilled arthrocleanse Nursing Proctor. The Office/ Nursing staff training program requires three days of nursing personnel participation, including multiple arthrocleanse procedures being performed by the proctored physician.

Nursing Staff Training, Day 1: Nursing personnel are trained by the arthrocleanse Nursing Proctor in proper aseptic technique, room set up, equipment set up, function, use, care, cleaning and sterilization and all aspects of room and patient preparation, procedure support and post operative duties. Nursing personnel will also participate and support the proctored physician in one or more procedures under supervision of the Nursing Proctor.

Nursing Staff Training, Day 2 & 3: Nursing personnel will be proctored while assisting in the performance of several arthrocleanse procedures under the supervision of the Nursing Proctor. All aspects relating to the performance of nursing personnel duties and responsibilities will be evaluated, competency tested and reviewed with trainees following each procedure. By the conclusion of the last procedure and review, all nursing personnel will be confident and competent in performing the various support functions.
