SENIOR US NETWORK MANAGER

A. Role Summary:

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly autonomous professional who either comes from asset owner background or would have serviced an asset owner. The ideal applicant will have specific experience of the public pension/labour funds. The role requires high level of flexibility to travel within the US and internationally. Ideally the role will be based in West Coast of the US, however we will consider outstanding applicants from other parts of the country. All applicants must be eligible to work in USA.

There is a growing interest in responsible investment in the US. To address this interest, to advance the familiarity, favourability of the PRI and to acquire signatories and provide support to the investor base, we are expanding our US team. As one of two Senior US Network Managers, you will be

· bringing new investors to sign the Principles; i.e., increasing the number of investors, particularly asset owners, from the US, along the responsible investment implementation path via joining our organisation and

· Servicing the signatory network; i.e., providing practical guidance, solutions and networking opportunities to signatories on the implementation of responsible investment practices.

The role will require the candidate to be entrepreneurial but also work as part of a local, regional and global team. You will be working with the NYC and London-based PRI teams to support signatories’ implementation of the PRI across different asset classes, such as equities, fixed income, private equity, property, microfinance, ESG-themed investments and more. You will be part of the Global Networks & Outreach team and would report to the Associate Director, Head of the Americas.

There is currently 1 other Senior Network Manager and 1 Project Manager, based in NYC. Our offices are in midtown, at Rockefeller Plaza.

B. Core Responsibilities:

Goals/measures of success in this role:

· A larger number of asset owners joining the PRI in the US.

· Highly satisfied Americas signatory base (measured through an annual signatory survey)

· Increased implementation of responsible investment in the US (measured via progress in responsible investment) via the PRI Reporting Framework

· Greater use of PRI solutions and tools in the US.

· Close and constructive relationship with other PRI internal teams

The main function/ activities to achieve these goals typically are:

· Bringing in new signatories to the PRI initiative by proactively and creatively raising awareness about the materiality of ESG issues. The focus will be on having new asset owners join the PRI.

· Client relationship management, including at the senior executive level across the PRI’s Americas signatory base. This will include, but it is not limited to, one-on-one meetings/calls, events, workshops, running specific responsible investment projects with stakeholders etc.

· Managing and developing relationships with key stakeholder organizations in the responsible investment, SRI, institutional investment and sustainability fields to ensure PRI’s work is complementary to existing initiatives already active in the Americas markets

· Initiate and project manage local PRI events and/or signatory workshops. Prepare agendas, minutes and progress updates.

· Working closely with PRI’s internal resources such as Investor Practices, Investor Engagement and Research & Policy; to help tailor services for the Americas needs.

· Increase the engagement opportunities and activities of signatories in the different markets.

· Supporting Signatories in their implementation of the Principles through best practice development and dissemination, shareholder collaboration, and other relevant activities

· Representing PRI in key local mainstream conferences and RI related forums (which include public speaking)

· Keeping colleagues informed of project activities and signatories interactions, including keeping up to date existing customer relationship management tools. Managing own activity on PRI signatory extranet and databases.

· Participate in PRI team commitments, such as: general team calls/meetings, networks calls/meetings and other team related duties.

· Respond in an appropriate and timely manner to requests for information and other requirements from Head of Americas, the RI Executive and other colleagues across the organisation.

C. Experience, skills and knowledge:

· Strong experience and exposer to the US asset owners, preferably public pension funds and labour funds, but also corporate funds, endowments and foundations.

· Experience in institutional sales and/or practical experience in investment management or investment analysis strong relationships within the US are desirable.

· A good understanding of the challenges and opportunities around the implementation of environmental, social and corporate governance issues within asset owner and investment manager organisations, with a particular understanding of the US market landscape.

· Degree educated (or equivalent) in a finance‐related field (finance, economics, business administration, responsible investment, law) is highly valued

· High‐level written and spoken English, capability in presenting to senior financial services audiences, both 1-to-1 and to large groups.

· Extensive experience interacting with and relating to investment professionals at the C-suite level and in speaking engagements to large audiences

· Professional maturity: ability to complete tasks without supervision; well organised and reliable

· Confidence with a range of IT and Internet tools. Some experience with CRM systems advantageous but not essential

· A commitment to ESG/responsible investments and the goals of the United Nations. An appreciation of current and future trends within responsible investments would be strongly advantageous.

· Diplomacy, tact, good interpersonal skills
