Destiny Set-up

MARC Sources

Alliance Plus – Your Destiny contract may include Alliance Plus.

  • These Follett services require access to Port 80 outbound on your server.

Zed-Sources – To search for and retrieve MARC records from libraries around the world that have Zed39.50 servers, Destiny has an integral Zed39.50 client. The Library of Congress will be set up as a Zed-Source during training. You can set up additional Zed-Source sites directly.

  • These services require access to server port 7090 outbound for Library of Congress, and
  • Port 210 for other Zed-Source sites.

Internet Access

You may choose to make Destiny publicly available via the Internet.

  • Server Port 80 inbound must be open.
  • In order to set up SSL encryption, server Port 443 inbound must be open.

FollettShelf eBook Integration

Overview and Key Benefits:

Destiny Library Manager can be integrated with FollettShelf. This integration allows your Follett eBooks to automatically be available for searches within Destiny (materials can be hidden on FollettShelf by a combination of patron types and circulation types) without importing MARC records and provides Librarians with the ability to access FollettShelf administration and reporting functions directly from Destiny. Patrons can log in to FollettShelf using their Destiny log-in credentials, eliminating the need to manually maintain patron account information in FollettShelf.Additional information on Follett eBooks and FollettShelf is available at or by contacting Follett Library toll free at (888) 511-5114; (Outside the US and Canada: +1-815-759-1700 x1102) or .

Initiation and Configuration:

Enable Integration, with District Level Shelf

During your installation, we will enable Destiny to connect to FollettShelf. Your integration will include the integration of your District Level content provider shelf. Materials on this shelf will be shared with all sites within the district. In order to access Follett eBooks on the district shelf, each site will require a shelf regardless of whether they have site-level Follett eBooks.

In order to complete the integration, the District Cataloger for the District, and Site Administrator for each site will need to authorize their connection to FollettShelf and then configure FollettShelf so that patrons are automatically logged in when they access Follett eBooks.Detailed instructions for completing the integration are provided in Destiny Help. Once logged into Destiny, simply click on the Follett eBooks icon from the Destiny Help main screen to access the integration instructions.

To allow access to FollettShelf and usage of Destiny Quest mobile app and/or Follett Digital Reader app:

Patron Import and Cleanup

Patrons will not be brought from the old library system

Patrons will be brought in using an export from the SIS.

Note:

The update process requires that a .csv export is generated regularly from your SIS. The file needs to be formatted and named the same as the file used to set up the patron process. It also needs to be placed in the same location as initially set up.

Prior to implementation, the functional leads should decide which of the 40 available fields in Destiny will be populated from the SIS. Please use the SIS Planning Document to record these decisions.

If, in the future, the functional leads require additional fields to be populated from the SIS, they will need to coordinate the changes to the SIS file with the person in charge of the export and have the Destiny Administrator use the patron conversion utility to add the fields to Destiny.

Access Levels

Access Levels are permission groupings that regulate the functions that users can perform in Destiny. They also determine what the user can see on Destiny screen pages. Access Levels can be managed at the district level by the Destiny Administrator or at the site level by the Site Administrator. In the patron record, the appropriate Access Level is assigned to each patron.

Bibliographic Data

Preferred Descriptive Cataloging Form (AACR2 / RDA)

RDAis the new cataloging standard replacing AACR2r, it provides more comprehensive guidelines on cataloging audiovisual and digital resources than AACR2r.AACR2 will be selected by default. Selecting RDA as your preferred Cataloging Form will enable catalogers to convert existing records one-by-one using the convert button and to import and create new records that comply with RDA.

Preferred Cataloging Form:

Conversion from Eloquent

Conversion without Transactions and Statistics – The district will need to export bibliographic data in MARC 21/852 Holdings format and upload to FSC Data Services where it will be converted. Upon completion, the data will be made available to FSC Implementation for import into Destiny.

A Data Analyst from Data Services will be in contact to discuss the details regarding the data conversion. You will be required to review, sign and return a Work Verification Document outlining the conversion details before the completed conversion data will be released to Implementation Services for importing into Destiny.

  • See timeline for task details.

Barcode Samples

Please provide 10 random samples of the physical barcodes from the materials in the collection. The samples should reflect a thorough representation of the different styles of barcodes affixed to your collection. Once you have identified your sample barcodes, please photo-copy each barcode, enlarging them at least 200% and fax to Data Services at

815-578-5100. For more details see the document: Barcode Submission Guide.
