Name of Activity*: / Who wants to be an Oceanographer?Description of Activity:
/ ‘Who wants to be an Oceanographer?’ is a Centre-based education programme. In this programme, students will be able to have practical ‘hands-on’ experience of marine science, unable to obtain in the classroom. The activities include various experiments and observations to understand the importance of the following elements in the complex marine world:Air and sea climates
Temperature and salinity
Properties and quality of seawater
Life in the sea: plankton
Life on the seabed: benthos
The interdependence of life: corals
The visit will include an hour-long coral observation tour by Glass-bottomed Boat**.
Learning Objectives: (e.g. promote team building spirit, understand working processes of the business & commercial sectors) / The ‘Who wants to be an Oceanographer?’ programme will be conducted using an interactive approach through a wide range of Centre-based activities which will include simple experiments on physical and biological oceanography, wildlife observations and identification.
