3.  The department promotes ‘Earn while you Learn’ activity.

Weaknesses:

1.  The quality of students joining the degree courses being very low the primary consideration of the department is to increase their interest in academic achievement.

2.  Though the faculty is enthusiastic to take up research activity, the programme

being run in the unaided section, funding is a drawback.

3.  Majority of the students joining the course hail from rural background whose financial status does not allow them to go on a number of visits to the field work.

4.  The faculty cannot take up Ph.D under FIP, the facility being not extended to the unaided members.

Challenges:

1.  In view of the low academic performance students at the entry level into the college the faculty has to face challenges in training them up to the expected standards.

2.  A feel of dissatisfaction prevails among the faculty for the science sections are deprived of grant in aid ever since the beginning of the course. Reaching excellence under such circumstances is a big challenge for the department.

Opportunities:

1.  Scope to introduce job oriented courses.

2.  Training in self employment courses for the girl students from rural background.

3.  Motivating students towards research.

4.  To introduce subject electives in curriculum for the benefit of students.

39. Future plans of the department.
